I was wondering if anyone here has invested in a fertility monitor? I was thinking it might be worth it since we'd like to TTC at least two kids...any thoughts? Any models you would recommend, not recommend?

I've got the clearblue smiley face things OPK on the way to try next cycle (thank you, Amazon!) but I'm wondering if buying the CB monitor might be worth it. It's about 126 dollars on Amazon, not including replacement sticks. Not horribly expensive, but too much money to throw away.

If you think they are a huge waste of money, I'd love to hear that, too!

TIA!

HI SweetPickles, I've heard great things about the CB mointors. I haven't bought one yet as I thought I'd try the CB digital OPKs AND I LOVEEEEEEEEE THEM!! So I don't think I'll upgrade. This is our second month TCC and I'm convinced we'll get our bfp using the smiley opks.

I'd personally try them first. Good luck xx

Thanks! Glad to here you like the CB smileys...cause that's what I've got coming. I use ICs for my POAS addiction, but I thought I'd splurge on the digital OPK instead of the test strips to make it less stressful.

With the OPKs, I know it is recommended to chart as well...is that also true with the FM?

Another option is the first response digital ovulation kit. It is pricey, but I have never gotten a positive OPK except on it.
I would look around online to see if you could possibly get a deal on one if you really wanna try one. I have heard nothing but good things about them!

I have the CB monitor and this is my first month using it.
So far so good :)

Im on month 2 of using the CB monitor....I love it! Got it on Ebay for about €50 so it was well worth the money!

I bought a CBFM about a month ago, but haven't had a chance to use it yet. AmazonUK had them at halfprice!

AF has gone missing, sent no postcards so don't know where she's gone, and here I am at CD53 desperate to play with my new toy! :growlmad:

I've never used a Fertility monitor or any other OPKs. I just use Ov calculators all over the internet, I do not want to invest money over these products because my DH and I are saving. Although, I know there are many cheap OPKs out there, but the main problem with me is, there are no OPKs available in the stores near me where I live. All I can do is order online, but I do not have a credit card or paypal though. :growlmad:

I'm looking forward to use Clear Blue OPKs sometime soon.

I have just recently bought one by accident lol. I bought the strips first thinking they were regular and then opened the package and realized I needed close to $300 for a monitor lol. Instead of selling the sticks, I decided to keep the monitor (I bought it new just incase), and I have gotten 4 highs and 2 peaks my first time using it. I have been BD'ing like crazy during the peaks and highs so we will see what happens. So far I think it has been a great investment since the regular sticks didn't seem to pick up LH in me.
I will let you know soon if it has worked this month. I have read a lot into it when I first bought it and I have seen nothing but good reviews. The only people who it didn't work for seemed to be the ones with medical conditions in my research. Good luck and lots of :dust: to you.

When I went by calculations on the internet my dates were all wrong and I never ovulated when they said I did. It wasn't until I started using the monitor when I knew when I was ovulating, but everyone's different.

Have you been taking your bbt? This is also a good and cheap way to tell when you are ovulating.

make sure you have normal cycles before you buy one. i have 2 that are useless because i have PCOS. :( its frustrating to NEVER get anything except "low" readings all month long. :(

Nope, not trying anything no BBT, no OPKs, no monitors. And yes, you are right Ov calculators are not accurate cause I tried many over the internet and all give different dates. Maybe that's why I'm stuck there, HALP!

SLH, do you use the monitor and chart your temps?

Fuzzy, sorry you haven't gotten to try out your new toy! I'm also waiting for my AF so I can at least start playing with my smiley face sticks!

As soon as my AF arrives, hopefully sometime before 2013, I am going to start temping and do that along with the OPK. I'm not sure the smiley sticks will work for me, I have no particular reason to think that they won't, but I'd like to have another method of tracking jic.

Ive had a CBFM since november 2010 , apart from the first cycle , i always peak and get a eggy . But no luck in getting BFP using CBFM.

It's my 8th or 9th cycle now .I stopped using it for 2 months just for a break , and again nothings happend. So i'm gonna get it back out.

To ladies who arethinking of getting one, it's a good idea as it gives you high days and peak days and have more chance getting BFP .

Lots of girls i know on forums who used CBFM and finally got pregnant .

Somy advice go for it xx

also there's a thread called CBFM on this site , everyones great there , have a look xxx

Is it not worth trying temping & opk's before AF arrives then? I have been thinking of trying it as if i'm going to have to wait yonks for AF (post depo) then i'd like to give catching that egg a go at the first opportunity!!

Finally AF came back off her holidays, and I got to press the 'M' button for the first time this morning!!! :happydance: Wish me luck laydees!

I hope your AF visits soon SweetPickles :hugs:

FWIW SweetPickles I was temping for the last couple of weeks, just to get in to the routine of doing it. Temp dipped over the last two days, and AF arrived this morning.:coffee:
