Has anyone used cloth/reuseable pads postpartum?

I am wanting to get cloth pads for the postpartum period. I was hoping someone may have used them before and have a brand they recommend. I have never used cloth pads before but I am wanting to switch to them. I didn't have a good experience with the disposable pads last time. TIA

No experience here, if you don't get any replies here maybe try the natural birth or natural parenting sections of the forum because the ladies who post there might be more likely to have used them. I have seen instructions online for sewing your own.

Honestly I think I would have found washable pads a lot to cope with PP. I do have very sensitive skin and find I cant use many brands of sanitary towels that have perfume and other chemicals in them. The proper maternity pads (the type that look like bricks and are made all out of soft cotton with no plastic mesh or anything) were good for me though.

I did. They were so much nicer than disposable ones too. I used disposables for the four days I was in hospital with my first and as soon as I switched to my cloth ones I wished I'd used them right from the beginning (which I did after my second). I can't help with brands as I made my own, but I found bamboo velour tops to be the nicest feeling on my sore bits. The disposable pp pads I bought didn't have nearly as much coverage as the cloth ones I made, and the ones I made are rather small in comparison to ones I've seen since haha.

You can also get post partum pads that have a pocket that you can put an ice pack in if needed.

I used cloth pads once the bleeding slowed to a more 'normal' level. I was concerned that cloth would hide infection or particularly heavy bleeding initially. After about 3 weeks, I switched to cloth and was perfectly happy with them. I can't personally say I'd want to use them from the very start-you get through loads of pads and you're exhausted!-although I'm very big on reusable menstrual products, PP bleeding is something that's too unusual for me to want to deal with extra on top of

This is how I felt too. I might have used cloth pads later on but my bleeding stopped after 2 weeks anyway. If it is a case of finding cloth more comfortable that might be different.

I think if I do try them I would wait until the heavy bleeding stopped. I just wanted to get away from the disposable pads and I found last time they made me uncomfortable. I used some cloth pads at the very end and like how it felt so much better but since I don't use pads normally once I was given the ok I started using my diva cup. The extra laundry isn't a big deal for me.

Just something I was looking into. I was gonna buy one or two and if I liked them then I would get more.

I generally hate pads- I'm a mooncup girl :) but for those first couple of weeks PP, bring on the sposies! It also seems expensive to buy specific PP pads, as you won't need them long compared to how long a regular cloth pad lasts

I cloth diaper so I planned to use the for night time doublers :haha: The ones I found that people seemed to like were homemade too so they are not as expensive as others.

I will have to let you guys know what I end up doing but still in the research phase lol

The ones I made were pockets so I could add extra inserts for pp (or overnight) and they just became my regular stash afterwards.
