Anybody have this?

Would love to hear reviews! I have enough garish baby items around my flat - I'm looking for a highchair that goes better with my furniture/decor, but of course which is still comfy for LO. I def want one that can be used either with the tray or at the table.

That doesnt appear to have a tray at all. The wooden bit is just a restraining bar and doesnt seem very thick.

Looks very much liker a cheaper version of a Stokke Tripp Trapp which I have and which so far we love.
Adam can sit right up to the table and he loves that. I would say it cant be used for babies that cant sit up quite well - even though it comes with a harness as well (which we're beginning to use now as Adam is at the stage of getting into all sorts of positions!)

So I would get it - esp at that price!!

xx

Ack, Scampie, you are right. I was sure this was one of the ones that lets you do both... I have been reading about so many highchairs that I am losing track of which is which - sigh!

Ld, I was looking at the Tripp Trapp as well, but I read the review here:
https://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/buyingforbaby/knowhow/productsontest/highchairstest/
...and I didn't like the comment that it can be hard to get LO in/out. Have you found that to be the case? Lily is extremely big for her age so if it's a problem for some I rather expect that it would be a problem for us.

I think I read somewhere that there is a tray available for the Tripp Trapp, though, so that is good, although further ££ since it's available separately.

At first we did find putting Adam in was a bit tricky but I found it's all to do with how far forward you place the seat. It can be adjusted easily with the Allen key and once I adjusted it back it was easy to put Adam in and takehim out.
Wasn't aware of the tray so will check it out!

Thanks! I think need to see if I can find a shop that stocks it, so I can try it out in person.

we have the hauck chair and I love it. It was basically a cheaper version of the trip trapp one, which I preferred the price of at £50 rather than over £100!

It doesn't come with a tray but we didn't want one, I like that I can pull it right up to the table and she eats off a special mat on the table. I can get her in and out of it easily and it's fairly easy to clean as there are no hidden bit or tucks of fabric for food to get lodged in.

We bought it in the red, which is the only downside as although I love it it is already showing signs of wear in the red coming off slightly at the bottom of the legs. Although I plan to wait until it looks quite battered and then strip it down and respray it in a year or so. I like that this chair can adapt to Wyn's size and change over the years, already planning to buy another one for the next baby, as they will both be able to sit up at the table and not be a side addition to family meals.

The thing is, I'd like to be able to put her in the highchair with me when I'm in the kitchen washing/cleaning, and make use of the tray (with toys or, later, coloring, etc) to occupy her. That's why I really want to have the option of a tray. But I also want her to be able to eat at the table with us, which is why I want it to be useable without!

Ld, do you have the 'baby set' for the Trip Trapp? Or just the harness? Just wondering whether the baby set is necessary.

This is the baby set:
https://www.bambinodirect.co.uk/details1.asp/ProductID/3236/sid/26/stokke-baby-set-for-tripp-trapp.html

Also, FYI, upon further googling it looks like there is NOT an official Trip Trapp tray, but supposedly there are some made for the Trip Trapp chair by third-party companies (although I haven't encountered one yet).

Yes we bought the Baby set and also the cushion. You don't really need the cushion as it's a nice to have really, but I wanted the seat to be comfy for Adam.

For Adam the Baby seat is needed as he's not 100% stable whilst sitting up, plus as he's so fidgety I found the baby seat a secure way of keeping him seated.

I prefer the seat to the harness (which we also bought within the package) as Adam fiddles about with the harness and I find it a pain to get it adjusted correctly to be honest.

FYI - all these bits do add to the cost of the high chair!

Thanks a lot! :flower:

BTW, I found one of the trays.... but for £53!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/PlayTray-for-Stokke-Tripp-Trapp/dp/B002DR0M92/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1279747200&sr=8-1

I've just ordered the Tripp Trapp + baby set + cushion! :happydance:

I decided to skip the harness. Had a helluva time picking a color but ultimately played it safe and went with the standard 'natural'. I was really tempted by green and yellow, but since it should be used for such a long time, I was afraid a color might get old after while, or we'll redecorate and it won't go, etc. I went with the 'Green Tales' cushion - it looks so cute.

Thanks for all the info! Will let you know how Lily likes it.

ah great!!
Will be interested to see if you like it. We do!

Also thanks for the link - i think we'll def buy this!!

Got it! Well, I love it - EXCEPT for the baby set. Even with the seat as far back as recommended (with just a 4cm lip), it's still a nightmare getting Lily in/out - it's impossible for 1 person to do it alone as her legs have to be totally straight to fit through the leg holes, and even then it's hard not to scrape them going through. DH and I put her in it together the last time and she still ended up crying! :( She is a very long, big girl (22lbs) and carries her extra weight in her thighs (like Mommy!), so I imagine that is why it's so difficult for us. But I am surprised that Stokke, who's otherwise designed a great product, couldn't come up with a better design for the baby set. I mean, they recommend that it be used until like 18 months I think... Lily's only 6 months!

The good news is that I've been reading more about that PlayTray, and even though it isn't supposed to be used as a child restraint, a number of the reviewers comment that it does work as one, and that with it you do not need to use the baby set. So I have now ordered one of those. Hopefully I'll feel comfortable just using that and not the baby set. If it isn't secure enough I will have to give the harness a try... more ££!

Otherwise it really is awesome - and worth this bit of hassle. I love the look, and it looks really comfy also. And the cushion is super cute. It was quite easy to assemble, too, even though I'd read comments to the contrary. But then, I have a flat full of IKEA, LOL.

I think they introduced a newer version of the babyset which is totally plastic. The one we have is the older version which is wooden across the top and has a leather strap for between the legs. Sounds like the newer verison is more restrictive.

We received the Play tray today (didnt hang around ;) and as my OH has Amazon prime which means it gets delivered the following day).

I love it as its nice and large and and more importantly Adam loves it too! Yes I can see how it can also be a more comfortable restrainer as it also comes with a strap for between the legs - but it is an extra £50!

I had noticed while shopping that there are 2 versions of the baby set - and I have the new, plastic version. I have found a couple of websites that still have some of the old version for sale (although none in natural - but green would go okay with the cushion I got) but that is another £35. :-\ I have actually emailed both Stokke and the company I bought it from to complain - and I have asked them both if they can get me the old version of the play set, because from the photos it looks like there is much more room in the leg holes for chubby thighs!

I have actually moved the seat plate forward so that there is about a 7cm lip (even though they say to have a 5cm maximum lip for use with the baby set), and this makes it usable, just barely. I can at least get her in and out by myself, although especially the way out is very difficult.

I'm hoping that either Stokke or the vendor will help me out.

Once she's in it, Lily is happy as can be!

ETA: Very glad you like the Play Tray! Mine will come next week. I know, £50 is a total ripoff for a plastic tray (even though I hear it's quite heavy-duty), and I'm sure they charge that much because they basically have the market cornered. I don't understand why Stokke does not offer their own tray!

Awww Lily looks so cute in it!!
Yes see if you can get the older one as I think I've read the tray works better with the older set.
Will try to put a pic of Adam in his so you can see. (although I'm not an expert on uploading pics! :)

Would love to see a pic of Adam in his. BTW, I really recommend Google photos (aka Picasa) - very easy to use: https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?hl=en_US&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Flh%2Flogin%3Fcontinue%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fpicasaweb.google.com%252Fhome&service=lh2&ltmpl=gp&passive=true

I also got Lily a BabyBjorn smock, since she makes such a huge mess as she is learning to feed herself, and it's great. Here's a pic of her in the Tripp Trapp with the tray and in her smock... wondering what I'm doing with the camera out instead of getting her brekkie. ;)
