Hi all!

My little one is nearly 6 months and even though she's my 4th I seemto have constant worries about her health. It has been one thing after another, always told things are fine but still
Worry!

Anyway.. Her head!! Since she was born she's has a big lump like shape to the back.. It's completely hard and part of her skull. She was seen by two paediatricians at birth as I asked the midwife about it, they both said was normal and something about plates overlapping!?! It hasn't grown at all and if anything feels a little smoother now.. Still looks odd to me especially when her hair is wet.

Anyone else with a little one like this?? It's also huge 98th centile.. Although so are her weight/length xx

No experience personally but my nephew had something similar and was followed closely by dr. I've never seen anything like the pic you posted though... If it were me, I would insist on follow ups and probably get a second opinion xx

I don't want to make you feel worse as I'm sure all is fine but I would also be worried if my los head had a lump like that I'm sure it's nothing but I would defo keep pushing for a second opinion I hope I don't make you feel worse I remember posting about chads flat head and feeling horrible when people agreed it was flat but I also didn't way people to lie and pretend it was fine when it was flat X

Thanks, it's ok. It does look a lot worse with wet hair. It was the same if not worse when she was born and neither doctors were at all concerned which I found weird.. They said it follows the lines of the skull or something... It is weird tho. Thanks xx

I've just re read back and realised you said it felt smoother and hasn't got worse I'm sure it will even out as she grows Hun Drs defo no what there doing and yeh chads head use to look worse with wet hair try not to worry she's beautiful X

My lo has an odd shaped head. HV said it should even out by 12 months. Im hoping it will otherwise poor darling will have to have her hair down all the time (((

Just to add, her dads head is also oddly shaped (flat at the back lol) so i wonder whether it is a hereditory thing

How much does you girl weigh? We are also increasing weight. Moved from 25th to 75th centile in the last few months. I used to worry but not anymore. Each child is unique. She is very mobile and a happy chicken :) she is happy = im happy :)

Thanks all. I'm not sure exactly but I think my little one is around 20lbs now! She is chubby and long!i will keep an eye on her head, only just went to the doctors about her birthmark so don't want to rush back again yet.. Honestly never ending worries with her..wish I could relax!

Looks fine maybe its just the shape of her head ? Is there any reason you think you maybe more anxious about this LO ?

Thanks.. I think with my three previous babies I was lucky enough for their not even to be something minor wrong for me to stress over and turn into a major.. This time she was born and we were sent back to check her head while there they said no probs with her head but did all newborn checks and said she needed her hips scanned for hip
Dysplasia.. 4 scans, many weeks of worry later they declared them normal, then a couple of months ago I notice a huge huge area of light brown pigmentation on her skin doctor says birthmark and is not concerned Google says otherwise... It's so tiring I'm honestly drained from it all.. I have health anxiety anyway but never been about my children until now!

Step away from google it is the devil !!!! Lol.... Seriously though I find it doesn't help .
She is beautiful btw :)

Thank you... Yes it really is.. After years of Google telling me I'm dying I really should learn! Xx

Looks like my sons head, he's got no issues I know of. No one has ever said anything about it. I didnt even think it was something to worry about and think its justthe shape of his head.

Thanks, it was something I asked the midwife about the day she was born as it just felt like such a lump.. But both peds immediately dismissed it as part of her skull plates overlapping or something like that! i and my two eldest sons all have prominent areas at the back of our heads just not quite a prominent as Isabelle's! X
