Did anyone have any issues that actually required input from health services for head shape post section for breech babies? I currently have a footling breech who has a head shape which is consistent with babies in the same position but I have read that some people went on to see someone about correcting the head shape. Baby may change positions but in the meanwhile I am preparing for the worst case scenario.

my first was breech and ended in csection but she had the most perfect round little head you ever saw ive never heard of head shape being a factor?

My last son was Frank Breech. His head was perfectly round! Wayyy better then my other kids. But his legs were way up by his head. Haha so when he came out it took days for the muscles to relax and his hips to let them be normal. Breech babies usually have perfect heads since they arnt squshed in tr he pelvis.

My scan showed dolicocephalic head shape which is apparently common with breech babies.

This link might explain??

I just wondered if anyone else had needed to take corrective actions. I am hoping baby's skull will be soft and correct itself through natural growth but I was curious to see what other people's experiences were.

Thanks for posting this, I'm 36 weeks and my baby is frank breech; I was also wondering about this!

Hmmm, my son was Frank breech @ 34 weeks and flipped to footling breech at some point. His head shape seems to be normal, but he had a very large head at birth (15in). Infact one pediatrician was concerned about the circumference, but the other said that it was fine since he was a large baby. I kind of wondered if his breech position/c-section birth played a part in his head size.

Sorry I can't answer your original question, but I hope your babies head shape corrects itself :)

I had a c-section with my daughter and she had the most perfect head shape.

As of right now my baby is frank breech but she may switch positions before my repeat c-section.

My baby was breech and her head was perfectly shaped. A few people pointed out what a nice shape her head was actually! Her little froggy legs lasted a while though! She wouldn't stretch them down for a long time and they were rather splayed for a few weeks. She had a hip scan as when she was born her hip popped out but they managed to pop it back in no problem within minutes of birth.

great to hear. I was hoping it was unusual for head shapes to need assistance to mould. I love a newborns head shape, this one might just look a bit more like a football than my others. A few good sleeps will put it right hopefully.

Hi, my little boy was breech and small for dates and he has the most lovely head shape so try not to worry im sure your little one will be just perfect!

well I thought with all c sections babies heads tend to have the advantage when it comes to being perfectly round and not sore from squeezing their little way through the birth canal leaving the cone head like appearance, but i hear its worse with forceps or vacuum/ventouse
my wee girl had and still has a perfectly little round head with no marks or scrapes from forceps or ventouse either. she was gently lifted out, that is usually a positive to c section baby :D :D :D :D

I notice people referring to a perfectly round head. While I would take that over the rugby ball shape that is apparent in my babies case, is 'perfectly round' normal? I love a newborns head but I think round would freak me out a bit as brains are not round organs.

Mine was Frank breech and her head looked a little squished for a few days, but it fixed itself and she has a perfect little head.

I was warned that breech babies often have heads shaped oddly. But the doctor said it almost always goes back to normal on its own. He said he never knew someone to need to get extra help because of it.
