Does anyone actually have a HV they like??!!

I just keep seeing comments about them and seems no one really likes theirs.

I dont like mine! And I have three!

My main one she is so snooty and stuck up and talks down all the time. She has no idea about preemie babies I think I have given her more info than she has given me!
She disagreed with me that the gaviscon was making LO constipated, so I showed her the replies to the thread I made on here, she said ''oh'' :dohh:

She wants to wait to wean Anna until she shows signs of being ready like a term baby!

She is also the main HV for the preemie twins that were 9 weeks early at 1 and 2 lb something, she hasnt got a clue!

She wants to keep coming out for the next few weeks to keep an eye on weight gain so after 3 more weeks if I am happy with the weight gain I am going to tell her I will just go up to the clinic.

I have consultant appointment on 27th so will see what they say, but I cant wait to get rid of my stupid HV!

I LOVED Tyler's HV.. she had so much time for us, and came back a few times to review his speech after his 2yr check because I was worried! She sent a referral to get his eyes tested just because I said one of his eyes had a funny reflection in it. She was fantastic!!! BUT.. I found out after having Leo she's now had a baby of her own and isn't due back until JUNE :(
The new HV is nice enough, but I only really warmed to her on the last visit. She's an older woman, and conversation doesn't flow very easily with her. She seems to have no idea about prem babies (not her fault I guess) and my first impression was when she walked in... "Well, he doesn't look like a prem baby, just small!!" but like I say, we kind of "clicked" the last time she visited (yesterday) even so... she's not like the other one :(

I only saw my hv for 5 weeks but in that time she was nice enough and good about hollys slow weight gain. Since then I have been going to the clinic every fortnight for her to be weighed as she is in the 0.4th centile and the nursery nurse and nurse at the clinic are lovely. They look at the bigger picture and not just her weight.

Unfortunately when we move next month it will be out of the catchment area so worried what the new ones will be like. If they go on about her weight gain then I won't think twice of telling them to get out!

My HV is lovely it took time for me to warm to her at first. if ive got any real concerns or just want a chat she comes out to see us and spends up to hour at a time.i don't go to clinic anymore she tends to come out to weigh my lo once a month.like most HV they tend to have more experience with full term babies her sister had a prem baby so kind of understands.

I like the HV we have round here (we even have a male one!) but I never see any of them! We had the Neonatal Outreach midwives around for the first two months after Andrew's discharge, and since then the HV have opted to take a back seat because A is seen regularly by the hospital paediatrician (amongst other specialists). So I only see them when we take A for weighing at the clinic.

my HV is fabulous. i really like her. even when she tells me to do things/not to do things that i disagree with, i still think she's great (yet i carry on and do what i want). we got off to a good start because she was really good with my cats the first time she came over, she was stroking them and telling me how pleased she was that i let the cats near the baby - i expected the opposite! she endlessly suprises me picking up on such random things, a while ago when i saw her, sam didn't have any socks or shoes on, and she told me she thinks it's great when they don't get put into socks and shoes early because 'once they start, they'll have to wear them everyday for the rest of their lives' or something like that, lol.

we did have a nurse/health visitor of some sort from SCBU (a community sister? no idea what that means, i thought it sounded like a nun lol). but she was rude to me the first time she came over and i told her to never come back. which she didn't. lol. but she did tell on me to a social worker who came over and got me to sign a form saying i didn't want her to come back, but the social worker said she didn't mind so long as i had a normal health visitor who could see us.
