Not sure where to ask this so I'm starting here.

I'm looking at getting a bassinet/co-sleeper but I keep coming across ones that are plastic and vinyl with polyurethane mattress (or something toxic with lots of off-gassing).

Can anyone recommend a 'healthier' alternative? I've looked at the BedNest in the UK but it's extremely expensive to bring to Canada.

What about a hammock? The ones I have seen are 100% cotton.

This is a popular New Zealand made one but I am sure similar kinds are available around the world.

Not sure how far they ship, but we got a great all natural mattress, organic sheets, and non-toxic waterproof layer from https://www.thelittlegreensheep.co.uk/

Thank you for the suggestions, ladies!

I'm not familiar with hammocks at all...my guess is they are rarely used in Canada. The federal government here does not recommend them (but then again they ONLY recommend cribs, not co-sleepers). I don't think I'd try a hammock, I've never seen one and it would be an expensive experiment.

I just wish I could find a reasonably priced, healthy sleeping bassinet instead of these plastic/synthetic models.

How about a wooden bassinet? I found some super cute ones! https://www.wayfair.com/babyletto-Bowery-Bassinet-MIR1123.html I just googled wooden bassinet Canada lol

Although I'm sure you could find a wooden co sleeper too. My lo was given a wooden crib/changing table combo

You could build one? Bummer about thre hammock thing. They are extremely soothing.
