Not sure where to put this but here goes.I had a very complicated pregnancy and was told she may come early luckily she was able to hold on till 36+6 when she went into distress and was delivered by emcs.
She was born with congenital phnemonia and ended up on the neo natal unit, and was put on antibiotics.
A week after being in there and being put on the transitional ward at the birmingham women's hospital we were told she had 3 PDAs 1 large one and two smaller and just earlier she had heart failure.this is all so frustrating she's tube fed and back on the unit and Idont guess I really don't know why I'm writing thisi just need to know it can get better and things will get easier for me here .

Just sending you hugs really. Failure is a really scary word to hear about your child, but my doc told me it doesn't really mean 'is going to give up' more 'its in a bad state'. My daughter has one large ASD, and a LOT of lung issues over and above the normal BPD/CLD type issues. Last time she was admitted to hospital she was in respiratory and cardiac failure.... today we were told her ASD is half the size it was and she is no longer considered to be in cardiac failure (respiratory was very quickly sorted out with diuretics). So in our experience these babies are amazing things, and time is a great healer, so I strongly believe it is perfectly possible to get better x

Unfortunately the diaretics are not working for her and she needs an operation as soon as she is a certain weight.she is struggling to breath and is only able to feed via a ngt as sucking is putting to much pressure on her heart:cry:

No advice or words of wisdom. Just wanted to send u huge hugs.xxx

I'm really sorry to hear that. My LO had to have half her left lung removed when she was 3lbs 2oz, and her surgeon told us that he preferred the heart babies to the lung babies as it's 'just a matter of rearranging the plumbing' and the babies tend to do really well afterwards and come on leaps and bounds, whereas the lung babies are a lot less predictable. Surgery on your baby is absolutely terrifying, it was an incredably long 5 hours while she was in there, and a miserable week in intensive care where she wouldn't come back off the vent, but she's so much better for it now and hopefully your little one will be too x
