Im getting regular heart palpitations along with really bad headaches im at work and cant decide whether or not to go home to rest also getting waves or nausea. i feel yukky. anyone else had this i dont want to ring my MW i feel like a bother ringing her for every little thing.lol

I'm getting them too along with breathlessness. Saw my midwife today and she's sending me for an ECG next week. She didn't seem overly worried though which set my mind at rest a little. It seems to be fairly common, my friend said she had 2 ECG's when pregnant and they were both normal.
Its not pleasant but I think we're stuck with it. Take it easy and rest when you can....I'm going to try and follow my own advice....despite running around after my 2 year old and moving house in the next month or so!! Fun and games but all worth it!xx

I get a racing heart, which I put down to general pregnancy strain and my health is fine. Palpitations are obviously different though, it's a slightly painful sensation, right? The more you panic, the worse it gets, so I would definately rest. If it doesn't go away, a doctors appointment to check your blood pressure would be a good idea. She won't be able to tell you much over the phone, book a check up. I can't think of it being anything to worry about though, hun, so don't! :) do rest x x x x

unfortunately it seems to come with the territory. I've had ecg's before bfp (stress related palpitations) and asked my doc about it. He said it is very common in pregnancy due to the extra load (blood & fluids) on your body & heart. I get them everytime i go up the huge staircase to my bedroom (feels like another set of steps gets added on every week lol) but also just sitting in bed watching tv!

The headaches your mw may want you to come in for though, just to check your blood pressure. All in all i'd say if you're worried about it then call your mw! It will ease your mind and you'll know that your baby's ok!

I get it, went to the dr's and they said its normal in pregnancy and my hearts fine.

Hi ladies,
Just wanted to let you know I had exactly the same problems. I had palpitations and headaches, dizziness and also breathlessness I spoke to my gp who sent me for an egc and also told me it was because my heart was working harder due to the increase in blood from the baby. She also had a closer look at my previous blood test and noticed that my red blood cells were slightly low and explained that these were the cell that the oxygen cells clung to inorder to travel round my body and because there wasn't enough of the reds cells I was getting these symptoms.

So she gave me some iron tablets and within 3 days I felt much better. I have alot more energy and the actually seem to reduce the sickness too:happydance:

Im not sure if palpatations are what Im getting or not. Mine feels like my heartbeat is sometimes irregular and it sometimes feel likes its beating out of my chest. It sometimes stops then does a double beat then starts again. Is that what a palpitation is? Its scary.:(

I have this too, hope this helps!

Almost everyone has palpitations from time to time, though many women experience them more frequently during pregnancy for a variety of reasons.
Increased Blood Volume
A pregnant woman's body contains far more blood---up to 50 percent more---than that of a non-pregnant woman, explain Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel, in their book "What To Expect When You're Expecting." This provides for the needs of the growing baby by ensuring that there's plenty of blood for both mother and fetus. Unfortunately, a pregnant woman must move that significantly enhanced blood volume around her body with the very same heart she relies upon while not pregnant, meaning that the heart has to work much harder during pregnancy than during other times. The increased workload forces the heart to beat with greater force and more frequently in order to keep blood pressure adequate; this results in more frequent "errors" in heartbeat---moments during which the beat becomes a bit asynchronous---and these errors are felt as palpitations. Typically, they last only a few seconds, and are generally not accompanied by any other symptoms.
