I had my first ultrasound yesterday. I measured at 10 weeks and everything looked really good, but I was surprised at how fast the baby's heartbeat was -- 195. I said, "Wow, that's really fast," and the doctor said, "Normal. Perfectly normal."
Okay, I know that I should just trust the doctor and leave it at that, but it still seems shockingly high. I've read all kinds of things online giving "healthy" ranges from 100-200 bpm, but most often the high range is quoted at 180 bpm. Then again, I know the heartbeat peaks at around this point in the pregnancy. Anyone else have a bean with a super high heart rate? And also, does anyone know what that could mean? Perhaps my womb is just an exciting place to be?
PS -- Please no doomsayer stories (i.e. "My baby's heart rate was 195 and then it died," etc., etc., etc.). Thanks in advance!
**UPDATE** Went for my 12 week ultrasound a few days ago and the baby's heartbeat was a very healthy and normal 160. Basically, I worried for nothing. Thought I'd post this in case anyone out there needs some reassurance.
