Hi all :)

We've borrowed a friends fetal heart monitor for the pregnancy & have listened to it 5 times over the past 2 days (Fab isn't it!!)
Just wondering if there's any truth in the gender being able to be detected depending on the heart rate?

Experiences?

The say anything over 150 is girl.
My lo's was always around 155 so I guess you could say it was true for us but I don't believe its a true indicator of gender personally.

I doubt it's really true, but it was true for me I'm not going to lie hehe, my baby's heartrate was 180bpm when we first heard it and it came down to 150-160bpm, we're having a girl :)

Baby's around 140-150 but my Doppler doesn't measure it so I have to roughly work it out. Sometimes baby is kicking so loud I can't hear properly lol!

My baby has been between 160-180 this whole pregnancy and I'm having a boy. I thought I was having a girl the whole time because of that darn heartbeat... Lol. Definitely a boy! :)

I had ultrasounds with DS and my current baby at the same exact week of gestation. Both were 153bpm. Obviously I had DS but this one appears to be a girl. So not true for me! :flower:

It was not true for us!

Baby's heartbeat was between 154-169 which would indicate a girl----we are definitely having a baby boy!

Not true for me either time. DS1 fluctuated between 154 and 180. This guy has been fairly consistent around 155-160. Definitely boys...

Our little girl's highest was 170's early in the pregnancy but now she's come down and is usually 140-150's.

No there's no truth in it all my boys have been in the 150's. it's fun to guess though.

This is my experience as well! 167 the first time we heard him and he's been a pretty steady 154 for two months now. =)

I have to agree with the other ladies... it's a lot of fun to guess but there's no truth to this wives tale. All my babies have had the same heart rate ranges during pregnancy. And this last bump is a girl. Hers is no different from the boys. It's really fun to be able to listen whenever you want to though. Total doppler addict here!!!

My peanut has been 150s and 160s at every appt and it's a girl.

My doppler measure thing doesn't work anymore because she moves around too much

I don't think there's any truth in it, babies heart rates can vary at different times of day & depending on what they're doing, just as ours vary! Although its fun to speculate!

Thanks for all the replies ladies :) I guess I'll have to just wait another 11 days until our scan! Hopefully baby is going to cooperate :) haha.

Both my girls were between 135-145 throughout whole pregnancy. We didn't find out what we were having with either of them, so I would try to guess based on Hr and it was always right in the middle! I don't think you can go by it at all. Will you update when you find out what you are having?

*update*

It's a boy! They didn't tell me the heart rate though.

Congrats! Yeay! Thanks for updating, hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly :)
