Im 41 and been TTC for some time now.......went to see Gynae yesterday, have had bloods done and a scan and all is well. Seems I may not be ovulating every month so I am starting on Clomid when I go back in September. They will only keep me on this for 6 months, but they said that if it didnt work after 3 we may like to go down the road of inseminating the sperm into me when I ovulate (cant remember what she called it now). Can anyone shed any light, give me some advice or help with either of these subjects. Does anyone know if these methods have been sucsessful for anyone especially at my age.

Its been a long road getting here, and finally I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Please share your experiences with me so I can get a better idea of what I am about to go through.

Thanks x

Hi Pasteljay,

I'm not going through exactly the same situation as you (I'm 30 and haven't been prescribed Clomid) but I am on the waiting list for IUI (Intra Uterine Insemination) - which is what I'm assuming your doc suggested. There are a couple of girls on here who have conceived through IUI so although the success rates are fairly low it can and does work for some people.

I think you'll be given drugs to stimulate your ovaries and your partners :spermy: will be 'washed' so that only the strongest/best are used and then at thye optimum time you are inseminated. (at least that's what I've been told so hope I'm right).

I hope you manage to get your :bfp: before you get there but if not, good luck!!!!!!!!!

Hey Hun, my friend is ttc and Is 42. She has been advised to seek private ivf treatment due to her age as the go said it would be more successful? Perhaps contact a clinic for advice or attend an open day?x

Well they said to at least try with the Clomid for at least the first 3 months and from there decide if we want to carry on for another 3 months or go for the insemination route along with the Clomid for a better chance. God I dont know its all alien to me, I already have 4 children (20,19,18 and 12), I only had to look at one befoe and I was pregnant lol...........how things change eh!!!!!
