help! baby wont eat savoury!

Hi ladies. My lo loves pureed fruits and porridge but wont eat savoury foods no matter what I try! She will eat carrot but that's about it! I've tried mixing sweet with savoury but she works it out and spits it out! Today I made cauliflower cheese and pureed it and she spat it out! I then added apple and she still did. She cant live off sweet things! Anyone offer any advice or experience on this? Xxxxx

Have you tried sweet potato? Its a good gateway to veg. Also cauliflower has a pretty strong taste. Carrots, swede, parsnip, mash potato are good veg to go with, mix with sweet to start with if you want. Otherwise maybe try a few finger foods. My lo wouldnt eat pureed veg but he will eat it as finger food.

She's so little yet. Just give it time. Babies have taste buds that aren't all that different than ours. If you try some of the pureed vegetables, you'll probably find they don't taste all that great and probably wouldn't be something you'd want to eat yourself. The sweeter ones are just much nicer. Just give it time and keep trying a wide variety of things. Once she gets past 6 months you have an entirely new world of foods you can offer and you will probably find she takes to those much better. Toast with mashed banana and avocado was a great first food for us, as were roasted vegetable sticks and jacket potatoes with cheese. I'd say just hang in there until then and then you'll be able to offer all sorts of things that she'll probably love. Also, just know that they do go through weird phases where they'll only eat certain things (my daughter at 9 months only ate fruit and yogurt for a month before she went back to eating normally again). It's frustrating, but it doesn't last forever as long as you continue to offer lots of variety and new things to try.
