plz help. Am 13+5 and i took my bp on home machine last nite after 9pm first reading was 145/125, i thought maybe did wrong so took 2 more readigs about 5mins apart 126/73 and 125/74 which is ok so thought nothing of high bp. But i just took bp again just nw an first one was 121/71, then 3-5mins later was 129/112 so took another reading which was 129/82 when took todays high bp i did think was gonna get headache just befor takind second 1. I had severe pre e in labour with son 170/110 an been border line since 130-140/80-90. I just dunno wht do last tri of second preg was in hosp twice week getin monitored and dnt want tht this preg.

Ask your doctor, are there any meds or dietary changes that would help keep it down? Hope it stays lower this time :(

I would call your doc just to see what they say. Drink plenty of water, put your feet up and avoid sodium.

i was told after last preg to do dietry stuff etc much of it i do anyways, dont take salt. I was borderline (think first preg triggered sumin as my dads got high bp). I was put on meds last preg at 30 odd weeks. We dont have car just nw so sharing with oh parents vehicles in garage been over a week.lol if i rest any more oh will rage hes already gurnin house not tidy. Isnt it too early for pre e etc thought its after 20 weeks. :(. Was hopin this preg would be ok had bad ms frm 5 weeks till last week. Really acidy tht i was put on ranitidine on tues so was hopin bpd be ok. Last 2 pregs no ms ecept when travlin.

Have you noticed that when you check your bp it is always higher the first reading than lowers the second or third? That always happens to me with the machines but when I get manual (a hand pump cuff) I don't have a first high spike. So I really question the accuracy of the machines also, make sure you take them at least 5 mins apart if your retesting. When I was trained in taking bp's they always told us to wait 5 or more to get accurate reading as it's really important that it's accurate.

I would definitely contact your doctor and see if they can get you on some meds. I had severe pre-e with my daughter as well but it came on very suddenly at 30 weeks and I had to have her a few days later. This time around they're watching my bp and I have a monitor for home but so far things have been fine. But my doctor said if we do start to see my bp going up, they will try to get me on some meds right away.

The first isnt always highest. In past when docs taken it it rises between readings. i had readings 2 days ago an first was 130/74 5mins later was 118/80 so one part lowered but other raised. Today at noon readings were 121/71, 129/112 and 129/82. i see consultant on tues an bp will be taken then at 14+3 not been taken since 5+3 by mw/doc.

i had an easy first preg an was at mw an all gd 2days before birth son, turned up hosp in labour an set machines of bp of 170+/110+ i was still high 3months later with secing but it settled about 10wks then raised 17weeks but mw didnt do anything as bookin bp was high too so eventually at 30+ wks was put on meds. Nearly had c sec with son as got 15 min call but was fully dilated so forceps.daughter natural birth.

If the 129/112 is genuine I'd be concerned, but those numbers are very close together to seem accurate. I wouldn't be worrying about any of the other readings. Pre-e can strike at any point, but it's a lot more common later in pregnancy, and almost unheard of before 16 weeks. But pre-e isn't the only cause for high bp, you could have essential or pregnancy induced hypertension, this requires medicating as uncontrolled it can lead to pre-e, or IUGR. I don't need bp meds outside of pregnancy, I'm closely monitored, but within 2 weeks of falling pregnant I've had to start meds both times, and my bp just climbs steadily as I progress. I delivered at 28+0 due to pre-e and hellp last time, this time my bp is possibly even higher, but currently no pre-e.

i nvr had bp checked before preg so dnt no but i was no higer than 117/60 with my first preg till labour 170+/110+. Id nvr really settled an i was off meds awhile after daughter but bp has been border high but i can have ok if not lo ish bp ie both numbs double figs ive had 24hr monitoring to see if needed meds an be said i average borderlin so sugested dieat changes couldnt do much as i already dont take salt or much tea/coffee. Am only 22.

I would definitely touch base with your doctor as I'm sure you already know having pre-e previously makes you more susceptible to getting it again in additional pregnancies. However, it isn't unheard of to have high BP and that be it. Meaning the HP is the sole symptom and doesn't result in pre-e. This will only be confirmed with time and further visits though. Ultimately there's nothing you can do to prevent pre-e than what you have already so try not to stress about it. Worrying will make your BP go up as will pain and lack of water. Also lovinglife28 is correct on manuals being more accurate than digitals or machines.
