Help... I really think my RE's advice puts me at a high risk for large cysts.

It's a very long story, but has anyone else been in a situation in which their doctor was telling them to do or not do something that might be potentially harmful and tried to convince you that your concerns were unfounded/acted like they were silly? What did you do? Will a doctor whom you are not currently a patient of be able to give a second opinion, or do you have to scrap everything, go out, find a new doctor, get on a waiting list for an appointment, etc.? I'm so frustrated and confused.

I think I kind of figured it out, but the basic story is they saw a mature 25mm follicle on u/s and put me on progesterone 3 days later, without knowing if I ovulated or not. From everything I've read, progesterone can keep you from ovulating if it hasn't already occurred. They took what they "believed" would be a 7dpo progesterone test and it was a 5, but that was on a very high dose of supplements *and* Femara, so I didn't believe them that I had o'ed even though they said I could be pregnant with that. When I went back in for the next ultrasound there was this huge cyst where the follicle had been.

Thankfully the cyst has dissolved, and I made it very clear to them that I wasn't comfortable going on progesterone this time until I knew 100% that I'd ovulated, and it looked on my last ultrasound like I'd o'ed the day or two before, and my progesterone *then* was almost 4 without supplements, so I'm waiting to get it rechecked at 7dpo to see how it is when it peaks!

I think ideally they would give you a trigger shot if they confirmed a large follicle with ultrasound. Having you start progesterone without confirmation that ovulation has occurred is just silly.

csto- it was ridiculous; I asked if I needed a trigger, and they said it would be "too late" for one and wouldn't help and refused to give me one. But this time I didn't get a trigger because of the cyst, which was fine, and my P4 *without* taking supplements at 7dpo was 25, so my body knew what to do on its own :-). No thanks to my doctor! I should be getting a new one in December/January if this cycle is a bust... I'm feeling so much more hopeful this month, so I'm praying AF doesn't come in 6 days and make me regret being optimistic...
