Hi, is it normal not to be able to express a lot of milk?

My BF goes fabulous with LO but when I try to pump it'll take 1/2-an hour to express just 40-60 ml.

I've only had once or twice where I expressed over 90 ml in a short time.

I've pretty much given up expressing and am only BF but with the holidays coming up and being at my MIL's, I'd like to have some bottles of not formula ready as LO sometimes will refuse formula but she'll always drink breast milk.

Thanks!

Its totally normal. :) Your pump is a poor substitute for your babys suck. I got 1 oz max when I first started to pump but I can some times get as much as 5 oz in the morning now. Like BFing get into a pumping routine and the more you do it the more you should get. Pump in the morning for the most and pump one boob while feeding from the other too.

As ^^^. Definitely find thats the best time to do it. I express 5oz every morning now, without fail.:happydance:

Yes it's normal! I don't ever express much although usually get the most first thing like the others say. Also drinking lots of water a little while beforehand does seem to help. My supply hasn't really increased over time that much but in theory it should so keep at it!

I do mine at 9pm as LO goes to bed at 7pm and doesnt wake until 2am
