So..

Last year my mum passed away on 30th december. So we had a crappy xmas day ect. This year we was supposed to be going out for dinner but have decided we cant really afford it so decided for me too cook! [argh] Well im kind of looking forward to it, but stressing too! I dont have that long to get everything ready

I have 6 people for dinner.

Can you give me some ideas what i can do? i dont really want to do frozen stuff.

thank youu x

M&S - Turkey that comes in a foil tray, a tray of pasnips, a garnish selection box of stuffing, sausages and bacon rolls, then carrots, brussels and another vegetable.

I always get all my bits from M&S, they taste great and its very easy. xx

Hi there,

You can get a Turkey Crown from places like Tesco or M&S and basically the meat is in a tin foil tray, you cook it in the oven for the time stated on the box (a few hours) and you basically dont have to do anything to it. Its not huge, but enough for you all to have some traditional meat. You could also buy a Honey Roast Ham joint or 2 - these are precooked, so you just literally serve it. Very tasty, and very traditional as well.

Pigs in Blankets - You can buy these literally ready to cook. Just bung them in the oven for half an hour or so.

Roast Potatoes - Peel these the night before, and leave them sat in your pan (covered) You will need to par boil them - so boil them for a few minutes to gentley soften them. Then you will need to drain them, and give them a bash around so to create a nice crispy texture. Put some oil (or goosefat) into a roasting tin, and then cook in the oven for 45 minutes or so.

Vegetables - Peel some carrots the night before, and buy some precut brocolli and cauliflower. If you are pushed for room and pan space, you can cook these all in the same pan. Allow the carrots to cook first, for 10 mins or so and then add your cauli and brocolli as they take less time to soften.

Honey roast parsnips - The best are the frozen ones from Aunt Bessie! Too time consuming to make from scratch on Christmas day.

Stuffing - Paxo sage and onion. Dead easy! Instructions are on the box. Takes half an hour to cook in the oven. Make sure you have an oven proof dish! (or buy foil disposable ones, which is what I do! I also buy foil roasting tins. The less washing up the better)

Yorkshire Puds - Premade ones! 4 minutes in the oven. Cant go wrong!

Serve with gravy and cranberry sauce. Simple.

You can add less or more depending on what you feel confident with.

I would make a list of what needs to go into the oven at what time, and when it needs to come out.

Hope this helps, Xx
