Wow that sucks! If she's got a belly ache anyway, wouldn't it be better to go on BFing?
I dont know, I'm a bit niave and I dont know what it is that is wrong, but I'll tell you that thrush in their mouth isn't THAT bad and is REALLY treatable, Jasper had it and I got it right up into my milk ducts (holy crap, painful and itchy!) but it took only a few days of treatment to clear it right up.
What happens now? Is it possible to start BFing if you've stopped... sorry for being curious, dont answer me if you dont want to, but that seems a bit sad to me if she's still upset on formular (if you want to FF I'm not commenting on that but, its just a bit sad to not BF just because the doctor tells you not to)
What kind of infection was it? If its mastitis you can BF through it, I did and it made the infection go away really quickly and I refused antibiotics because they apparently upset babies tummie, I fed Jasper exclusively on the infected breast and pumped the other - it was too painful to even touch my infected breast, so I couldn't have expressed at all, the only way out was to BF and he was absolutely perfectly fine with it. It took about 3 days to bring down my temperature and make the red mark go away. At the worst of it I couldn't move my arm on the infected side without it hurting all down my side, my boob and even a little across my back! It was awful!
I guess I'm a bit of an advocate for soldiering on with BFing - I could have switched to FF, but honestly, one week of pain was worth securing my milk for the next 12 months!
If not, just ignore me...
