Any ideas on how to get pain relief into a very stubborn 2 year old? He had his tonsils out yesterday and is very obviously in pain, but has started to refuse. He did really well for a while, but then changed his mind!! Help!!

I know this sound cruel but if you can wrap him in a towel so that his arms are pened at his sides and then use a baby syringe and point the end of it in his inner cheek and release the medicine slowly.

I have had to do this to my LO a few times as I had no other way of doing it.

I ran into a similar problem not long ago and I decided to rock my LO until she got drowsy and almost asleep, then I used a syringe to slowly let the pain med run into her mouth by her cheek and she just decided to go for it...have to just dribble it very slowly though. I was rubbing her forehead in circles the whole time, this seems to have a quieting effect on mine.
