help, progesterone levels checked 1 day before AF instead of 7dpo, what is normal???

Hi ladies wondering if anyone can give me some advise? Am on Clomid (100mg) and, due to illness, had to have my progesterone blood work done 10dpo rather than 7. I started spotting the next day (and then bleeding that night) so luteal phase 10 to 11 days. Considering I had blood taken 1 day before period what would you say would be a normal level? Mine was 4.6, which scared me 'cos it was so low and I know I ovulated (positive opks, charting, fertility friend etc all agreed).

If it IS low does anyone know what I can do about it? I have a doctors appointment in a few days, stressing out until then!!

There's no point checking progesterone almost right before AF. It must be checked in the middle of the LP, which in your case would be 6DPO. Why were you doing the test, to confirm ovulation or specifically to know the level of progesterone?

Soili thanks for the reply. Was doing the test to confirm ovulation, knew it was silly to go so late in cycle but thought better late than never!! Does it drop as low as 4.6 do you know the day before AF??? Also could a low progesterone level cause a really really light period? thanks so much.,

It does drop that low before AF! It's the drop of progesterone that restarts your hormones for the next cycle are leads to the period. I think as far as I know Clomid sometimes causes not sufficient lining, together with rather short LP, it might explain lighter period?

Ah thanks so much i feel a lot better now, was so worried about low progesterone levels, think i've just got myself worried about EVERYTHING at the moment!! It would just be sooo nice just to know exactly what's going on, feel like it's all just guess work! Fingers crossed for that BFP this month for us all! xx
