I've bought my lb a wooden train track for christmas. I want to get him a motorised engine for it. I've been looking at the thomas ones mainly but a few others too, they seem to have mixed reviews; Some say that the thomas one won't climb the steep bridges and topples over on the corners. Other engines I've looked at are apparently slow, won't pull much and the battery soon runs out.

I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies out there could recommend a good battery engine please? X

We have two

This one:

and this one:

They both do a good job we don't do many steep bridges but my son likes to attach lots of trains to them (like all the ones he owns!), neither topple on corners. The orange one is the stronger and faster of the two but they way you turn it on and off is a bit of a pain, you have to push down the front in the right place.
The green one has easier buttons, lights and the option of going backwards but isn't as fast or strong. It was the first battery train we got and it worked out well for us.
I hope that helps a little, it can be a nightmare buying things when the reviews are mixed.

We have the 1st one Lilicat posted, it works well and goes up the track well. It does go through batteries quite quickly but that might be because DD always leaves it on!
