Hi everyone :flower:

My husband and I are having a little girl in October :cloud9: After much debate, we have decided to name her Hana. It means "flower" in Japanese, and I'm half Japanese.
My question is: Just looking at it, how would you pronounce it? Hah-na, Hannah, or Ha-yna? The actual proper way to say it in Japanese is Hah-na, but we're thinking about just pronouncing it "Hannah" so she's not correcting people her whole life (or using both Hannah and Hah-na)...but then a friend of mine said people might think it's "Hay-na". What do you all think?

Thanks :)

My hub is Japanese and we live in Japan so I would pronounce it

"hahna" the Japanese way.

You could tell people it is said the british way- lost of my british friends that have half Japanese babies named their daughters "hana" and it is pronounced very close to the Japanese way with the English accent.

I definitely wouldn`t say hayna...

I would have immediately thought Hah-na was the way it was meant to be pronounced. It is a lovely name choice. :flower:

I would stick to the way it should be pronounced 'Hahna'. Its very pretty :flower:. xx
