im a single mum & have a LG whos 18 months. i recieve no money from her father.
my mum works for the council in the childcare/development bit (cant say too much about it).
Anyway she said my LG can start nursery at 2 yrs old for free at 15 hrs a week..
does anyone know much more avout this?
i assume its the September after her 2nd birthday?

i dont really know how all this school stuff works! lol
dont know if this is in the right section either! xx

Hi you can get 15 hours free a week the term after your child turns 3 and those hours have to be spread over a minimum of 3 days. Before that if you are working then you may qualify for tax credit help to pay upto 70% of childcare costs if the nursery is registered.

As above - it's the term after your child turns three. :hugs: xx

i was reading up on this the other day as i was working out where he'd go if i decide to go to uni. i found this really helpful:

https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parent...rseriesPlaygroupsReceptionClasses/DG_10016103

it depends when your LO's birthday is in the year when they can start :)

If they're born between 1 April and 31 August...
1 September following their third birthday or the beginning of the autumn* school term

if they're born between 1 September and 31 December...
1 January following their third birthday or the beginning of the spring* school term

if they're born between 1 January and 31 March
1 April following their third birthday or the beginning of the summer* school term

Yes your mum is right, in some areas and at some preschools and nurseries there is now funding available for 2 year olds. I only found out today that my daughter will be eligable from next easter which is the term after she turns 2. It's only if you're on income support I was told though (which I'm hoping not to be by April lol)

Thanks girls, yes i am on income support..
i shall look into it more as shes 2 on 20th February.

xx

Hi hun, I've just received the 2 year funding, you have to find a pre school that is signed up for it(not all preschools can offer the 2 year funding/nor take them from 2) & then they apply for it for you.
