I'm phoning the Mw at the hosp about this aswell

Alex hasn't eaten since 11pm last night. He has woken twice and I've offered through breast. He roots but he doesn't take anything and just cries.
I've only just managed to get him to take a little bit but not without a fight

I don't know why he isn't taking anything, it seems a long time to go without eating. He hasn't pooped for days so I don't know if that's anything to do with it.

I dont think the pooing bit is a problem BF babies can go for over a week and its totally normal. I got told that 7 hours is fine but over 9 you should start to insist upon it.. could you express into a cup and make him drink it? But i would DEF be phoning in... I really hope he's ok hun

Patrick did this....he went 11hours....and then started feeding again like nothing had happened?!? I hope hes ok hun. Im sure he will be xxx

Just got back. Got some laxative for him as constipation maybe the reason why hes not feeding.
His next feed is a bottle anyways so will see how that goes then continue nursing as normal and hope that he will take it.

I managed to get a litte nurse but he brought some of it back up.

hes taken a bottle, 4oz out of 5. I really hope he will take from me normally later on

I bet it is his poo. Happened to Helena and once she poo'd she was eating away again.

What can i do to help him go? The laxative doesnt seem to have done anything.

I find that if I drink orange juice it helps him go, doesn't always work the same day but he's always had a good clear out by the next day. I just drink a few glasses a day.
Some cooled boiled water with a tiny bit of brown sugar in a bottle is also said to help but I've never tried it as the OJ always works for me

Cant get any till tonight though, only just back from the shops

At that age Julian would often go for 10hrs without eating - he did it overnight it was AWESOME lol By about a month he was going regularly 6-8 hours a night of straight sleep with the odd 10 hr night thrown in. By the time he'd wake up I'd be so full it'd be painful and wishing he'd wake up. Thats when I started pumping if he slept more than 8 hours. Oh and the poop thing was the same with Julian too. He'd go a few days without pooping. I actually never realized how much a baby CAN poop til' this one came along cause he poops constantly lol
