Hi to all:

well, basically, I'm not a native English speaker but I wish if I could giv my children a classic/traditional English/Brit name. (Bcoz I love England.) my surname is "GUO" based on the fact appears on my communism passport :growlmad: (i will change it to "Goodman" once I get NZ citizenship.) Please if anyone could giv us some opinions of these names for my 1st baby boy.

Ashley Charles Rhein Guo/Goodman
Adrian Charles Rhein Guo/Goodman
Ashley Charles Gauss Guo/Goodman

First Name: my wife like the name start with "A"
so far she likes "Ashley" and "Adrian"

Middle Name:
I heard from someone that traditionally English name there baby boys Charles and baby girls Elizabeth. Correct me please if I was wrong.

Middle Name(2):
I prefer to choose a German "sound" name Rhein (Rhine); a river name or Gauss (the famous German mathematician).

I would like to hear any positive and negative views and some more other name suggestions.

many thanks in advance
Ryan

Hi there! Where are you currently living? Here in the US the name Ashley is primarily a girl's name (although it could be used for a boy, but very rarely!) I prefer it for a girl. Adrian can be unisex, although i don't find it to be very masculine either! Sorry, just my opinion!

You can do online searches to find names specifically of English/Brittish/German descent. Here are some of my suggestions, taking into account the criteria you specified!

First names:
Aiden (English - Means: "Little Fire")
Alec (English - Means: "Defending men")
Alphie (English - Means: "Noble")
Andrew (English - Means: "Man or Warrior")

My favorites are Andrew & Aiden!

Middle Names:
Barrett (German - Means: "Brave")
Brant (German - Means "Sword")
Carl / Carlo / Charlie (German - Means "Free Man")
Dominik (German - Means - "Lord")
Garrison (Strong)
Lance (Territory)
Leonerd (Brave Lion)
Nikolaus (Victory)

My favorites are: Nikolaus, Dominik, or Garrison

lovely names.

I prefer adrian but thats only because i had a freind who was a female ashley so for me i think 'girl' when i read it. Ashley is, i think, more common as a boys name though so thats probably just me.

Where are you from originally?

To be honest I'm not keen on Ashley or Adrian.

How about Aiden?? Or Andrew? I really like those. Also Alexander I LOVE!!!

Alexander Charles Rhein

Thank you very much 4 ur prompt reply. My wife and I will seriously take the consideration 4 ur advice. I am origin frm the biggest communism country in east Asia, (it's better dun mention its name to hurt someone. :-P) n currently stay in Malaysia. My wife pick "Ashley" just because she likes the sound, n I quickly agreed because both Ashley Cole and Ashley Young are very good English football players :-). But it seems this name is gettin less n less popular for a baby boy. I get some very similar comments from other forum as well. Anyway, thank u again and its really one of the toughest assignment 4 me to "think a name for my 1st baby". :-)

Cheers
Ryan

Hi Ryan, https://www.world-english.org/boys_names_list.htm these are all traditional English origin boys names and their meanings, and this is the link for traditional English origin girls names https://www.world-english.org/girls_names.htm hope there is one or two there you like .

Thank you very much Madam. Its very helpful. BTW, gender scan has done 2 weeks ago, its a baby boy so I guess this time I will only stick on baby boys' names. ;-)

Cheers
Ryan

I love Adrian!!! I think it's a very good, strong, masculine name! The same goes for Charles. Classic, strong name. I'm not keen on Gauss or Rhein though to be honest. If you'd like a German sounding name, how about:
Adrian Charles Albert
Adrian Charles Joseph (yo-seph)
Adrian Charles Berthold
Adrian Charles Marius (mar-ree-us)

Hi Amy

thank you very much for all ur suggestions.

Adrian Charles Marius (mar-ree-us) sounds cool.. I feel like wan 2 wake my wife up now n discuss this brilliant idea with her (Its around 3 am here in south-east asia. ;-) I will 4 sure 2 let u know my wife's view. Many thanks 2 u and all other friends here.

Cheers
