Here but anxious

Hi all,

Just thought I'd say hello rather than lurking

I am currently 5 weeks pregnant (only found out 2 days ago!) with our second (third if you count my little angel). My first pregnancy went like a dream and I had no problems at all, although Emily couldn't wait to get here and appeared 4 weeks early! But she was perfectly healthy and everything was great. Emily is now 16 months old.

In summer 2010 we decided that we would like to add to our family so started TTC and got lucky within a few months. Sadly, in October at 8 weeks we MC. It was such a shock as the first pregnancy had been so smooth. Also I am one of 3 children and my mum never experienced a MC so naively just assumed that I wouldn't have any problems either!

Now we're pregnant again, I am so excited but anxious as well. I'm trying not to worry as whatever will be will be, but it's hard

Anyways, that's my story. It's really great to be able to share this with people who understand. None of my friends have experienced a loss (well not that they have said) so thank you for listening

Congratulations and welcome. Sounds very similar to my story, even the timings, although the one I lost wasn't planned but very sadly missed (hence why we tried so soon after). BnB is very supportive so enjoy.

Thanks everyone! Going to ring the docs tomorrow to get a 'booking-in' appointment with the midwife. I'm hoping that I can get an early scan just to check everything is ok. Did any of you have scans around the 6/7 week mark or did you have to wait for the 12 week scan?

I did - my consultant said I would. Whether you get one depends on your area -and sometimes they will use an early scan in place on the 12 week one for dating - I was advised this going for my early scan but luckily it was too early to date - I also knew that my hospital offered the nuchal scan which had to be done round the 12week mark so I would def still get a scan then too even if they had been able to date me early on.

I also had a private scan at 8+4 so was after my mc point and bridged the gap to my 12 week scan - was mentally beneficial for me...

Oh thats good hb1. I've not go an appointment with docs til next Tuesday but hoping that they will refer me to EPAU just to put mind (temporarily) at rest.
