Ok...so on wed I went to the doctor and mentioned some changes in movement, he was still moving but it didnt seem like as much. My doctor sent me for monitoring and they were not very happy with the results but it was good enough that thet let me go home with instructions to do kick counts, relax and come back friday for more monitoring. My blood pressure was also elevated so they had me do a 24 hour urine test and some blood work.

Friday I went in to get monitored and they were once again not happy with the results of the Non Stress Test. They sent me for a BPP and got everything they needed except the practice breathing. This in combination was enough that they sent me to the hospital for more monitoring. Also my BP was high (I was feeling ULTRA stressed though) it was 140/90.

So I went to the hospital where my doctor happened to be the attending on call (YAY!!!!). They did the Non Stress Test again and after a while they finally got positive results!! :) They monitored my blood pressure, which at first remained very high... 160/83 but slowly went down until it was in the 130's. Finally they got a ultrasound machine to do a BPP and after a while they saw what they wanted to see on that and finally let me go home. YAY!!!

I have a blood pressure machine at home, so when I got home I took it again and it had spiked quite high. It went down a bit before I went to sleep. This morning it looks good so far....**Cross fingers!**

Earlier, before my doctor's shift ended, she decided to give me steroid shots in case of an early delievery. She also indicated that if I continue to have blood pressure issues or if he has more monitoring issues they may want to deliver him early. So now im looking at potentially having a preemie. Dont know if it will actually happen or not...but of course im a bit worried now. I am 33 weeks +3 as of today. I have no idea how future tests will turn out...I am hoping that at a minimum, he will be able to stay in until 35/36 weeks...but hopefully longer. :-/

Does anyone have any advice or have had anything similar happen to them?

Im heading back to the the hospital in a little while for shot and monitoring. Feeling so stressed.

Hello

Hope you are ok - first of all, try not to stress although I know that will be near enough impossible!

Here's my story. When I had my 25 week check with the midwife, she found that my blood pressure was really high. I was sent off to the bigger hospital (the hospital where I was booked in for giving birth - all my check ups were at a small local maternity unit) to get monitored and I had to have daily scans, blood pressure checks, blood tests etc to make sure the baby and I were both ok. They gave me steroid shots in case of early delivery.

I was then transferred to an even bigger hospital with a specialist neonatal unit and was admitted at 26+5. Two days later, my bp was through the roof, there was protein in my urine and the scan showed that the blood flow to the baby was not quite so good, so they decided to deliver (I had severe pre eclampsia). Sophie was born weighing 1lb 13 and breathed on her own for 30 minutes before getting tired and having to be ventilated for a couple of days. She was then put onto CPAP and was gradually cycled off that from about 32 weeks - finally got rid of it altogether at 37 weeks.

We had very few problems through neonatal - she had a little eye infection and one blood transfusion, and was ventilated again at 2 weeks old for a few days but other than that we didn't have any major problems. She came home 6 days before her due date, after 12 weeks in neonatal, weighing 5lb6.

She is now almost 7 months old (almost 4 months corrected) and doing really well. There is so much they can do for preemies, and your baby is at a good gestation. It has had a few more weeks to develop than Sophie had and she did really well. The steroid injections make a huge difference, and they kept telling me that even every half day extra inside me made a big difference.

Good luck and please keep us posted. xxxxxx :hugs:

:hi: try not to worry too much as it sounds like you and LO are in good hands :hugs:. At my 28 week antenatal appointment it was discovered that I had 3+ protein in my urine and raised blood pressure. I was given steroid injections and medication to try to control my blood pressure. Molly was born a week later, as my blood pressure had increased to 211/116!

33 weeks is a good gestation, and if the worst was to happen, LO would have the best chance of being just fine. Molly was bron at 29 weeks, and came home from hospital a month before her due date, after a 7 week stay in hospital. She came home on oxygen for a couple of months which was scary at first. She is now 21 months and doing just fine, you wouldnt know she was prem.

Best of luck to you and Sean :hugs:

Hey,

Thanks so much for your stories and reasurances! Hospital went well today! He showed no sign of any distress and the non stress test went well. Blood pressure was high for the first 2 or 3 readings but then got under control. I was there a few hours but im home now with directions to come in for more monitoring tuesday at my drs office, not the hospital!! (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!) They gave me the 2nd steroid shot today...so its nice to know he has that protection!!

I have a BP machine at home and my bp has spiked a couple of times since getting home but has been getting under control on its own...it doesnt stay more then 15 mins at the high bp. Im not sure what this means though or how to keep an eye on it. I dont really have any symptoms when it spikes...although I did notice a little while ago that I felt a lot of pressure on my forehead not pain though just pressure. I took my BP right away and it was 149/85...so high but at least not ridiculously high. Thats one of the only times ive had a signal to a spike. Hopefully ill be able to tune into my body and feel any symptoms more...im pretty good at tuning disomfort out.

Hopefully baby will keep looking good on scans and my BP will stay under control. That way I can keep him in as long as possible!!

Thank you so much again!!!

Glad to hear that you had a better visit today when you went in. Having the steroid shots are such a reassurance. I received mine a week ago after I found out that my cervix was shortening again and after some contractions. Right now you're at a great gestation if you were to have your little one. Try to remain calm and relax, that can make your BP rise. I know it's easier said than done, especially while pregnant. But I believe you'll be fine.

Have the doctors found any protein in your urine?

I also had a preemie, but at 23wks 4days. At that gestation, with NO steroid shots, she did really great. She only had one surgery, but it was heart surgery, and spent a total of 70days in the NICU. Each baby is different and will experience different things.

I hope for the best for you and your little man. I hope he can continue to bake though!!

Hey,

Thank you for sharing your story. I cant believe how early your daughter was born! Thats amazing! Im so happy she is ok!!!!!!

Im not sure if they found protein in my urine or not. My doctor didnt say but did make me take the 24 hour urine test. I dont know if they got the results back yet. Ive been keeping an eye on my BP at home and it keeps randomly spiking...when im totally relaxed...sitting on the couch watching TV. It doesnt stay up too long though...which I assume is a good thing. I really dont know what it means...im hoping my doctor will have some answers Tuesday. :)

Hey,

I ended up going back to the hospital yesterday because lo decided to go on a movement strike and freak me out. Of course the second he was strapped to those monitors he started squirming and kicking...I wonder if this is a sign that hes going to be one of those kids who always does the opposite of what ppl want? lmao

Anyways, all looks good with him. My BP was still high...the top number stayed between 140-155 for the majority of the time...it went higher once or twice as well as into the 130's twice. The lower number stayed in the 80's most of the time with a few spikes intot he high 80's and one over 90. Its not ridiculously high...but is high. My BP has always been normal....usually 120/70 (ish) or lower even at home :-/

They did find protein in my urine sample on Friday. Yesterday they said there was only a trace of protein and my blood work still looked good. Im really not sure what that means...any one have any idea?

Im supposed to go to the doctor on Tuesday...hopefully she will have some answers.

hey didnt want to read and run, i know its hard not to but try and not let it stress you out. i had my lttle girl @34wks tho my waters broke at 30wks which stopped her growth she weighted 3lb 10oz and spent 12days in scbu was breathin on her own from the start and only needed feeding, i had the injections at 27wks as had a bad bleed really glad i did as they helped her lung development.

Your little 1 will be in the best hands if he is born early and hopefully he wont b in hosp for to long
