hi this sounds ok to me as both mine fed every two hours for quite a while, my second was 2 weeks early. but not jaundice, the only way to tell if hes taking enough is to strictly weigh hom weekly and watch the chart for any falls, feeding little and often can be tiring for you, perhaps try waking him up wen he falls asleep as cruel as it sounds to get a little more down him, or at feed time stretch him a little longer with boiled water, 15 mins each couple of days will inrease into an hour eventualy then ul be going every 3 hours. hope this helps .:winkwink:

thanks hun i have tried to change him once hes fallen asleep on the breast to wake him but its like hes so tired out from feeding he doesnt wake i just seem to remmeber dd feeeding for longer like 30 mins at a time and was a bit concerned its only 5-10 mins xx

My friend baby was always an efficient feeder, 5-10 mins at a time every 2 hours from when he was born.

My lil man was jaundice for 6 weeks after he was born I was told it wasn't really a problem if he was waking for feeds himself.

Just keep an eye on him and if you have to start waking him to feed mention it to the mdwife.

feeding often is good for a jaundiced baby and so long as hes waking often for feeds hes doing ok, dont let him go more than 3 hours in the day or 4 hours in the night between feeds till the jaundice clears as breastmilk is the best thing for clearing it up and dont panic about weighing him for at least 2 wks its normal for them to lose weight then gain it back by 2 wks they need to be back or nearly back to birth weight though,
from what you said he seems to be waking for feeds when hes hungry and drinking as much as he can cope with either caus its hard for him to get it or caus you have a fast letdown but it sounds like hes doing ok to me, you could try pumping for 5 min before feeding him so that he gets more hindmilk if your worried about him getting enough as this will keep him fuller longer

my baby was the same thing, she was feeding not more than 5 minutes maximum 10 minutes and fallen a sleep, i was scared about she is not taking enough milk , but when the midwife come and weighing her after one week she told me that she is doing well. i think all babies fallen asleep and don't feeding more than 10 minutes and its normal, i know its very hard but don't worry

good luck x

Thanks guys I feel like a first time mum all over agaiin lol x

Hey Hes only 3 days old, Your milk doesnt fully come in until day 3. These days can be the hardest! but its normal for them to be a bit all over the place these days as they only get a sugary substance until 3rd day, when you milk really comes in you notice a difference!
