Hi everyone, SUPER upset after my HPT today was lighter than others, and I'm freaking

I'm gonna post them here but my pregnancy test I took this AM was lighter than the others. It was FMU, not like the others usually are, and very dark. Any advice would be super helpful.

HPTs are great things...they can tell us we are pregnant before we even miss a period! But they can't really give us true insight as to how our pregnancies are going. There are many reasons that your line is lighter, and it's most likely the dye itself. The dyes on these tests vary from lot to lot and stick to stick. A blood test can tell you definitively if your hcg is falling, can you ask your doctor to order one? I know it's easier to stop breathing than to start worrying, but unless you start bleeding, try not to worry.

Read up on the hook effect. I think it typically kicks in around 5-6wks pregnant. Don't freak out yet - it could just be that the level of HCG you've got is now too high to bind with the test. Give it a read.

Please try not to worry ( I know this is almost impossible but try!) I had the same thing happen with this pregnancy and was convinced it was failing but I'm now a day shy of 32 weeks and bean is kicking away nicely inside me! Wait a couple of days and take another.

Especially with those type of tests, you're likely to get variations in their quality. I even had a frer be a lighter line after about 4 or 5 days but I realized it could've been anything like maybe I didn't pee on it enough, drank more than I thought before sleeping, etc. I took another frer after another 4 days or so & the line was instant & so much darker than the control.

I asked a nurse about this and she said not to use hpt's for progression as there can be many reasons for lighter lines.

I know you're very worried silmarien , but try to stay positive & calm. You don't want too many bad stress hormones running through your body now. I know how hard it is, I've had 3 MC's and with my first one I even held the tiny baby in my hands but you need to celebrate your milestones... Like for instance, today you're still pregnant!!

Thanks guys. I took another one later and it was nice and dark. Guess my hCG fluctuation are higher in the evening.
