Hi Girls...i;'m a complete novice when it comes to babies .....CLUELESS !!

I am going to try breast feeding for 1st few months, but sadly have to return to work so will need to switch to FF.

I will need an electric steriliser ....what do you think??

We dont have a microwave and this includes bottle warmer???

Firstly, I'd ask in the BF section about going from BF to FF as lots of babies will not take a bottle after BF so might not be as easy as you think.

Secondly, we use TT bottles and they're ok, but some babies don't get on with the teats (same for every brand), so if you spend that much on all TT bottles and LO doesn't like them then you've wasted your money.

Thirdly, the bottle warmer is just like pouring boiling water into a jug and heating the bottle that way. It has no timer or anything, and takes a while to warm up. We were quite dissappointed with it really, but we have it upstairs for the night feeds rather than have to come downstairs to boil a kettle etc.

Fourthly, we had the small TT bottles and I have to say they're a waste of money really as you can put 3oz in the big ones just the same! Also, we've since tried the anti colic bottles as well... now I'm going to try the Dr Browns ones as LO is still suffering with wind. If your baby does, you might end up buying anti colic ones too.

We have the Mothercare Pod steam steriliser and it's great - has a 24 and 48 hr cycle too so that you can pop some bottles in overnight and it will keep them sterile. Does the TT one do this?

My advice would be, if you really want this set, to try LO on a couple of TT bottles and make sure they like them first, and you could always cold sterilise with Milton for a week or so while you're doing that rather than buy a seperate steriliser :)

Hiya and Congratulations!! :D

I am breastfeeding and I will my little one a bottle of EBM every 2 days usually, sometimes a little more or less :P So she is taking bottle well, thank goodness!
Just wanted to let you know you can pump when you return to work if you wanted to still breastfeed, or well... give your little one breastmilk, that option is still there for you if you do choose to breastfeed :) Not too sure about the whole switch to formula as I have never done it. My first was only formula and this one has been breastmilk aside from ill at birth she had formula and colostrum until my milk came in :) and that didn't seem to bother her tummy or anything mixing :D

Omg its so confusing !!!

I used to think my job was difficult but is a breese next to havbing a baby !! he he

Thanks x

Looks pretty kick ass to me though! Seems to come with a lot of stuff!! How long to you plan on staying home with your LO? I am so scared and worried about going back to work and I am on on Mat leave until end of November ... hehe

haha oh it is lol, when I had my son this were so different than they are now! I nearly fainted when I seen a friend of mines pictures and she was giving her new baby a bath in the tub, with the cord stump still on LOL I guess it's okay to do that now but when I had my son (who is only 7) you had to only sponge bath them until it feel off haha ... so this time in the hospital when the nurse asked me if I wanted a demonstration on bathing I said oh yes haha because god knows how much had changed within a month or two since my friend had her baby! So hard to keep up!

I couldn't bf properly (lots of reasons, not my fault!) so after a few days I expressed for a month and it's very hard work but def. doable - definaltey check out the BF part of this and also the FF section has some good info. :)

Most of my friends have said the same thing....they tried but just couldnt do it. Even my mum said she couldnt do it with either me or my two brothers !!

I would like to express anyway even if i am BF. I would really want my OH to be getting involved as well.

Its gonna be hard work !!!

Thanks x

Congrats!!

Yes, thats a lot of stuff but also costs a lot - doesnt look much of a bargain to me!!

Keep your eye open for the next asda baby event - april sometime I think.

I got tommee tippee steam/microwave steriliser - that can be used cold with tablets if you dont have microwave - it included 3 bottles and teats/tongs/brush - got for £10.

Also got packs of 4 tommee tippee bottles including a soother for £5 at the end of the event - they quite often put things down to half price!!

So, I got all the stuff thats in that set your looking at for £20!!!! OK not electric steriliser but no difference really! Oh, and bottle warmers are waste of money as new2bumps said

You said 'OK not electric steriliser but no difference really!'.....the only main diffence is we would have to go out and buy a microwave !! ha ha

If its the same tom tip microwave one that i have then u dont need a microwave https://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Feeding/Steriliser-and-Warmers/Microwave-Steriliser(0047237)- - u can use it with cold water and tablets is what i meant - dont give it to grandparents!! if u dont want it at least return it and get money back!!! u shouldnt need one there- just take made bottles when out and about visiting etc......just trying to save u money!:flower:
