Jay xx:flower:

Hi there, im NI but not the RFC. I did have the pleasure of Dr McClure at Origin one visit so it yOu have him, he's lovely!

Good luck

Unfortunitly i have Dr Boyle (old school headmaster type) We have been with the RFC 17months refered for ICSI as GP did 3 SA on my dh which had terrible results spend 7months at the ulster hospital getting my tests then refered to RFC but they only just put us on the waiting list last thursday so from us being refered to actually getting treatment we will be with the clinic 29months, but we should have been put on the list 17months ago and now they expect us to wait another 12months!! i am going to write a letter od complaint to the trust and see how that goes they cant keep doing this to people..

Its nice too meet u.. is there any more northern ireland girls??

I'm attending the RFC at the moment ... hate that bloody place, but at least the entrance is no longer via Maternity.

Good luck with your treatment. You never know - it might come round sooner than you think...

It Is Just A Horrible Place Isn't It I So Don't Like Dr Boyle But We Did Have Dr McManus For DH's SSR And She Was Lovely Really Wish She Was Our Consultant..

Where Abouts Are You From Maz?? Im In Dundonald xx

We're with Dr 'Smelly' McFaul who has the bedside manner of a brick!! The nicest one I've met is Gillian Williamson, but when it comes to your IVF treatment you see whoever happens to be on that day.

I'm between Carrick and Ballycarry.

Oh Thank Goodness As Id Rather See Anyone Other Than Boyle:wacko:

Oh Carrick Thats Not To Far At All.. I Think Its Terrible That There Is Only 1 Hospital Actually Does IVF/ICSI In Northern Ireland!!!

Hi Ladies

Im an NI girl too and at the RFC. I seen Williamson at my first appointment last year (she put me straight on the IVF waiting list - she said there was no point doing IUI so on I went). She was really nice but didnt do many tests on me just the bloods so I made a private appointment at Medical Associates on malone rd in April past and saw Dr McManus there - she ordered a HSG straight away. Had that done in July and no blockages. She wasnt too keen on the idea of having a LAP done but gave me 6 months of clomid and said if that doesnt work then she'll arrange a Hysteroscopy to look inside uterus for fibroids. Period on route at the moment so onto 3rd month of clomid.

So far Ive had good experience of the Royal - so far.......

I was called for IVF in APril past but ive postponed it for a year - I wasnt ready for that. Ive been TTC for 3 years approx. I was NTNP for a year too so you could say 4years in Oct! Nightmare.

Hi Girls,

I am from NI myself, though recently (and only temporarily!) moved to Sydney for dh work.

I was diagnosed with PCOS by Dr Shahid at Hillsborough Private Clinic, had some bloods done, don't remember much about what was said about them.

Tried Clomid, for about 4 cycles, up to max dosage, no effect whatsoever, so referred to Craigavon fertility centre where Dr Shahid is based. Had 3 rounds of IUI with injectables, no luck.

Personally the level of patient care at Craigavon was woeful, they forgot my name half the time, even when I was up there every week for scans! When dh and I decided to take a short break from ttc, they didn't call to check and see why I hadn't come back. Only saw consultant once in my whole time there, rest of the time it was a nurse. Felt like bargin basement fertlity care if I'm honest. I have ended up doing alot of research myself, and found out myself about Metformin, robitussin, and other things that are taken and done for improving fertility. Looking back it wasn;t even explained to me what pcos was other than a hormonal imbalance. No insulin testing was done, and I'm aware insulin resistance is a huge factor in pcos.

About to see a fertlity specialist here to start the ball rolling again, I've been taking Vitex, Peony and other herbal supps to help things a bit. So see how it goes! One thing is for sure, I am armed with more knowledge now (thanks also to this forum!) and will be able to ask for certain tests..not be fobbed off again! If no baby is achieved here, will be going to Origin when back home. I think you get what you pay for in fertility treatment...or has been my experience so far. :sad1:

Hi Girls

Hopefaith, Yes i have head origin is a fab place my sisters sis in-law had ISCI there and was successful first time they now have a 1yr old little boy..

But for us private treatment is the guts of 7k because DH needs SSR again and we need ICSI but we just dont have 7k so for now we r waiting for our NHS go but i totally agree with you that you do get what you pay for.

Jxx

I have had 2 cycles through Origin and while the care and attention is great (though i have nothing to compare it with!!) it still all comes down to luck and so far i have had none!

I've had two cycles at origin and this is my second cycle at the RFC. I'd definitely choose origin for location, staff, and professionalism, but if this cycle doesn't work, I'll have to consider going to the mainland as the procedures available in NI seem to be in the dark ages in comparison to the mainland UK, and surprisingly enough, there's not a massive difference in cost either.

But, what am I talking about? This is my lucky cycle!!
