Does anyone elses baby suffer from hiccups? Mine gets them after most feeds (I am BF). I have tried Infacol, Dentenox, winding him, leaving him, in fact everything I can think of! It doesn't distress him as such - he just looks hacked off that he has them, again!!!
Any ideas?

Renah hiccups after EVERY feed for almost a half hour. She has to be picked up when she's hiccuping too or else she'll scream blue murder. She hiccuped a lot before she was born too. I read that hiccups don't affect babies like they affect us. No advice, I'll be watching this thread hah

Hebe hiccuped 3 times a day for the last 2 wks of pregnancy and I was worried so I asked the mw. She said she'll probably be a hiccupy baby......and boy is she ever!! No tips - they dont bother her at all fortunately

Oliver hiccuped his way through my last weeks of pregnancy too! At least I know it's not my booby milk thats causing it!!!

Just from experience, sometimes the hiccups are caused from a burp that doesn't get brought up.

Jasmine usually gets them in the evening at least once... I found just leaving her in her bouncy chair with the vibration on gets rid of them in 10 mins or so...

Erin had them loads during my pregnancy and for the first couple of months she was always hiccupping after every feed. They didn't bother her too much. She is now 4 months and still gets them but not as often. Usually gets them if she is hungry or after some feeds. I think its her way of winding even though she does big burps. Sometimes if I have a drop of milk left in the bottle I offer it to her - if she drinks it it seems to get rid of them but often she won't take anymore feed so she has the hiccups for about 20 minutes. I asked the hv but she said its fine, doesn't hurt them. Some babies are just very hiccuppy.

Ollie gets them too! And he hiccuped while inside me. Don't think there is really anything you can do unfortunately. Faith was exactly the same x

Well you've already mentioned it but Dentinox stops Fin's every time. I was sceptical but it's brilliant for stopping his. Before that it was just perseverence or giving him a bit more formula / water. xx

my only tip is just to put them back on the boob when they start thats what i do

I agree. I always put Poppy back on my boob for a suckle and they stop quite quickly. You can also give them cooled boiled water I was told. I guess anything that makes them swallow a few times should help to stop them. Poppy has them after pretty much every feed too, and sometimes will get them a couple of hours after which is a bit random. She isn't the best at winding though, I find it quite hard to get her to do a good burp after a feed!

Erin gets them too - usually a bout lasts 30mins or so, they don't seem to bother her too much though!

Leo had them in the last few weeks of pregnancy too - really annoying after a while! He has them about 4 times a day and sometimes he cries after every hiccup and its really distressing - theyre really powerful and he looks terrified. Ive tried everything but I heard really chilled water on a cold spoon given to them to sip works. I havent tried it I just use some infacol - i think the shock of the taste cures it rather than the actual medicine! Or just more milk works!
