my body has been feeling off since about 29 weeks. my blood pressure has been high, my dr took note of it last week and i ended up at the hospital for tests. my next dr appt is in a few days. today my blood pressure has been high. i was at work (im a chashier at walmart, low stress and short shift) when i got to work my bp was 123/91 2 hours later after a 15 min sit down my bp was 124/93. i started to feel realy queezy, my head started to hurt, my motor skills slowed and my chest began to hurt so i ended up leaving early.. my last bp was 141/95. i am now at home just trying to rest its been about 45 mins and i am still feeling strange. baby is happily moving about. i am curious if i should go to hospital or just wait it out cause i know that all they will do is a blood and urin test then strap me up for 2 hours on the NST to check fetal heart rate and movements. i just know they wont 'do' anything about it persay. when i had hypertention in pregnancy with my oldest son my readings never went above /90 and i never felt this way before. any sort of idea on what i should do would be nice as i feel like my brain is unwilling to decide. my dr is closed until monday.

My personal opinion is when you have a gut feeling about something - follow it. Your pressures are not super high, but the def could be an indication of pre-eclampsia. Are you having any other symptoms? Headache? Spots in vision? Epi-gastric pain? Sensitivity to light? Etc.

Also, watch for any swelling of the hands, feet or face. Headaches, changes in your vision all of these should have attention. You should def go with your gut if you feel like you need to call then just make a call to the dr or midwife and see what they say.

ive experienced all of the above, surprisingly the swelling is very minimal today and yesterday. i opted to skip work today and am hoping i feel better, my dr appt is in 2 days and an ultrasound in 4 days. im trying to keep my pressures down by resting but really feel no change in them even after sitting and sleeping for almost 13 hours. my head is killing me...i am also sick and have a stuffed nose sore throat so i wonder if that is affecting my bp as well.

paige - I would go to the hospital. If you have experienced all of those symptoms, then you clearly have pre-e. How far along are you?
I was almost 35 weeks when I developed pre-e. My dr let it go for far too long, I finally got induced at 38.3 weeks and the baby and I were both in danger. I developed HELLP syndrome, and could have died. My liver was failing, I was at risk of bleeding out, etc, etc.
I don't mean to scare you, but this can be very serious. I had read numerous stories about pre-eclampic women who weren't dealt with quick enough, ending up becoming developing eclampsia and seizing and worse.
I know it's a hassle to go to the hospital, but it's worth it.

thanx for commenting. i do worrie what could happen if i dont figure it out fast. luckily i have an amazing dr and im sure he will be sending me for the right tests and keeping a close eye since he knows my history.
my bp is high still today, my dr appt is in the morning i am definatly looking forward to going and hope to figure out whats best for me to be doing. i am also sick(sore throat fever and stuffed nose) so it could be affecting my bp.

Your BP is borderline and in some places that would be medicated, other places not. It is likely that you will be encouraged to stop work soon and keep your pressures low. In my experience pressures only increase so I would monitor it for sure and get it checked out. You have other symptoms and that is worrying. When I was diagnosed with PE in my first pregnancy, I didn't feel horrible at all at first. I thought they were bonkers for admitting me but my body was symptomatic and my baby was delivered early at 35 weeks. Best to get it checked. Keep in touch

so dr sent me for a few tests at the hospital, blood tests came back good, my bp is still up. my dr is setting me up with the home care nurse to come and check on me and do bps at home. he scared me and was talking about maybe id be admitted and be hospitalized for the duration if my bp continued to be high. so i have my ultrasound tomorrow and another dr in one week. i think my high results have had a lot to do with me being congested the drs didnt say it was a factor though. im feeling somewhat better today but ive been off for 3 days, i have to go into work today to hand in my notice.

thanx for posting everyone :)

i had high bp my lasr pregnancy theni developed preeclamsia @ 19 weeks. Pleasevtake this seriously and follow up with your dr as much as possible.

god ive been so sick, yesterday i was riding the bus to my ultrasound and vomited all over myself lets just say the day continued like that...today im feeling weak and sick. my bp feels through the roof. i dont understand why my dr hasnt set up any meds or homecare for me...im frustrated by the hospital trips that just seem to waste my day...looks like this evening will consist of another one though. i cant get this puking under control...late last night i was feeling better but today my heart feel like its beating out of my chest, my head hurts and all i want to do is puke...my ultrasound was great baby is happy and healthy, so thats deffinatly reasuring...sigh...6-9 more weeks of this, i just dont know how im going to pull through. ive got another dr appt on monday...

Oh my goodness. You poor thing. And yes, get your butt to the hospital and put up a fuss if they try and send you home. Make sure you see a Dr, get blood work done, urine tests, reflexes checked etc. How high is your BP? Do you have any swelling?

Do you have epi-gastric pains? Vomiting could be caused by an affected liver. Have them check your liver enzymes and platelets.

im curious how bad this pain on my right side is supposed to get?? or be before i worrie??
baby has slowed his movements the last 2 days. yesterday i started feeling a sort of ach on my right sidewhere my bra rests on the rib cage...today the irritable pain has turned from a dull throb to a aching that resinates into my shoulder. it hurts to cough, it pretty much has hurt solid through the day with every movement. i also feel like im having light contractions that shoot down my legs...i literaly dont have a single penny to go take the bus down to emergency, ive been procrastinating but now im worried... i have no way to get there for another 36 hours....

Do you have any friends to take you to the hospital immediately??? Neighbors?
You are describing very serious symptoms. This condition can be life-threatening for you and for the baby!!

i called my dr and he is out of town, his receptionist told me to go to a walk in clinic....does that mean im over reacting?? its so stupid that they tell you look out for these symptoms and if they happen get looked at, then you make an effort and they pretty much make you feel stupid. im so frustrated right now. and i have a dr appt on monday but my dr is out of town, i dont get how thats going to work...sigh.
will be spending another day noting fetal movements.

That is VERY serious.. I would call an ambulence and go in right away... not sure if ur Dr office is crape or they just aren't worried but when I had pain not even that bad they told go go to L&D right away and if I had to call 911 to take me!!! Not tying to scare u but ot could mean the lives of u and baby!!! Please go and get checked its serious.. also u shouldn't be walking?!? U should be resting I cant believe they would tell u to walk to clinic!! Keep us updated!!

Call an ambulance and get to the hospital now.

Please go and be seen immediately, pre-e can get very bad very quickly :( xx
