anyone have this how long did it take for the meds to start working

I had really high blood pressure due to preeclampsia, I had an emergency induction, but they put me on labetalol from when I was admitted until a few days after she was born. It started working basically straight away- I remember while I was waiting in triage to be moved to delivery, my blood pressure went from 158/109 down to 145/95 or something similar, and that was about an hour after taking it :)

medication can force your blood pressure down within about an hour (or less). in hospital with pre-eclampsia, if my blood pressure got above 140/100 i'd have to lie down on my left side for 30 minutes as for some reason this often makes it drop down. they'd measure it again after 30 minutes, and if it is down you're allowed to get up again, but if bp stays high you get more meds.
