Hello,

Last time I was pregnant (albeit 11 years back) I developed high blood pressure during the last 10 days & went into labour a week early when I had just been admitted into hospital for the night to have BP monitored.

My question might sound a bit stupid but wondered if it's likely that if I had high BP at the end of one pregnancy I would have it again?

anyone had this?

thanks in advance for any answers x

these is always a risk this will happen but it all depends on what caused it, if you are worried about it get it checked regularly.

It is certainly possible that it could happen again. Don't worry about it though, you were very late in your pregnancy, and it doesn't sound like it got very serious. Higher BP is pretty normal, it's only when you get it in conjunction with several other things (swelling, protein in your urine, bad bloodwork) that it would have any significant impact on your pregnancy.

I got admitted for suspected pre-eclampsia at 34 weeks. If you don't have any other symptoms, they will monitor you as an outpatient. If your BP gets too high then they will try to reduce it with drugs. Only if you get all the symptoms above and your BP can't be controlled with drugs will they consider inducing early, and even then they'll try to get you as far along as possible first.

Well it was true for me...i got HBP from my 2nd pregnancy
& with each one it gets worse
