High Cervix, EWCM, solid smiley face... No tempature shift!

Is it possible to ovulate without a tempature shift? 2/12/14 I got a
Solid smiley face on my CBFM (this is my first month using it). I have been temping for 5 months... I have always had a tempature shift and the latest day I have ovulated has been on CD 18. Usually I O around CD 14.

Starting 2/14/14 I had EWCM And my cervix was high and open, just like it always is when I ovulate. However, I have not had a tempature shift. Does that mean I haven't ovulated? If I wasn't temping I would literally have no idea. I just need to know if we have hit the BD window or if we need to keep doing it every other day until my temp shift.

omg, it's like you read my life today! i'm going through this right now - very curious as to what people say. I got my 'peak' solid smiley on Monday morning but average temps since then. Slight, slight drop this morning (97.8 to 97.6) and for kicks, took another OPK and got a negative, so I must have O'ed between Monday and this morning. Not sure if I should expect a spike in temp tomorrow?
I read that not every woman drops in temp, but there should be a spike of at least .4 degrees.

Wish2be I could not see your chart… Maybe try loading it again? Did your CB digital ever have a flashing smiley or did it go straight to a solid smiley?

I tried testing again three days later and got a negative.... I really need my temperature to shift so that I know I'm not going crazy!

So I got a flashing smiley starting 2/14, flashed for 3 days, then got the solid smiley on Monday. The box says that it'll stay that way for 48 hrs and to BD during that time. But no drop in temp that whole time. Just this morning and to me, it wasn't enough to write home about. BUT - I was also laying in bed for a good 45 mins prior to taking my temp, so I guess it could have risen while I was laying there and my body was 'waking up'? I fell back to sleep for about 3 hrs and temped again just for fun and had a 98.5!!! What does THAT mean? It's a throwaway b/c it's not the same time as my regular temping time, but still! ...maddening!

Anyway, I'm hoping to get my spike tomorrow morning.

I did read that if your temp doesn't shift, though, it means you didn't ovulate. And (what fun!) there's no rhyme or reason to why you wouldn't ovulate, you just didn't kick out an egg this month.
I'm wondering if this is what happened to me and I'm going to be SO MAD if it did! I imagine you will be too!

It is possible to get a positive OPK and then not ovulate. All the opk test confirms is an LH surge, but it does not mean you defnitely ovulated. The only way to conform ovulation is with a temp shift. For whatever reason, sometimes our bodies can gear up to O and then not. Beth, in my opinion from looking at your chart and your past charts, I'd guess that's what's happening. What will probably happen is that you will gear up to ovulate again. I would keep OPK testing to watch for another surge and keep temping. Good luck...that must be so frustrating!

Wish - I can see your chart now. I think that's the case with you, too, but I think you have to watch your temps or another couple of days to be sure...maybe for some reason your temp was off today? I'd keep watching your temp and OPK testing. Good luck!

Edit: after reading your last post, definitely keep watching your temps since you're pretty sure it wasn't accurate. Temps are sensitive things, so any differences in how you normally take it can mess it up. Fx you see a rise!

no spike this morning, I'm beyond mad. I don't think I O'd and this is the first time I'm finding out about something like this. This is only my 2nd month temping, first one doing it correctly, so I don't have a pattern yet. And I almost feel like I'm too old to let a few more months go by to find a pattern! (38) So much going on in my head right now...

My temp went back down... I also tested on my CBFM and I got another solid smiley. So... Wish2Be... Don't be too frustrated, I feel better that we are both in the same boat! I am 32, so not really that much younger than you.

I'm on CD19! Which is not so late for some people, but it is late for me! Maybe DosPinkies is right... Maybe I am just gearing up for ovulation again...

Hey ladies! I got a postive OPK on CD 11 & I didnt get a clear temperature shift this month! it's so frustrating! I was still able to draw a cover line on my own chart, but the difference on temps are maybe .2?! I'm CD 23 & although my temps are above my cover line I'm starting to think that maybe I didn't ovulate. 5-6 days away from AF.

welcome to the misery, merrier! what an annoyance this is, huh? I've been annoyed all day.

I hope for a spike tomorrow, but I keep saying that. I read that you can have a slower rise over a few days b/c your body might already be somewhat adapted to the progrestrone or something. It's rare, but it happens! we'll see, but I'm already accepting that I didn't O or I missed something somewhere along the line.

beth - I hope for a spike for you too tomorrow! or just a late O!

beth - looking at your chart again, I have a theory - what if you O'ed on the 14th AND the 17th? do twins run in your family? Then the dip from today could be the implantation dip from the 14th, that would fall in line with that timing.
Just a thought - your temp differences look too remarkable to not have O'd, I'd think. But I'm clearly NO expert. Are you feeling symptoms?

Edit: ok, maybe not ovulating twice in one cycle but looks like the first drop could have been a fake out and the 2nd one the real one?

Twins do run in my family.... However, I Didn't think that when you were pregnant with twins that you actually ovulated two different times. I don't even know how that works! Hopefully the first time was just a fake out I really need my temperature to rise tomorrow!

nope! that was my theory and then I read up on it - you would definitely release 2 eggs (if fraternal) but they would release w/in 24 hrs of each other and they wouldn't be considered 2 ovulations. So never mind! sorry about that!
temp rise today? mine didn't. I'm all set with taking my temp anymore this month just out of annoyance but I know I should to continue to see the patterns.

No temp rise for me today! Boo!! I did however go to the Ob/gyn today. She did some blood work, she said she was going to test me for PCOS. So....

I told my husband I wanted to stop temping... He said we needed to try to to everything we can. He isn't the one that has to get up early though, makes me a little sad that he wants me to keep temping.

i did too, over the weekend!! 3 days in a row, so now FF is showing that I maybe O'd on cd21, which is weird b/c that wasn't my lowest temp (though the lowest one was one calculated earlier than the normal time). THANKFULLY we BD'ed that day!
did you time yours right?
I'm still skeptical, though...I don't know why! It's not a HUGE temp shift like some women have, not that we are all alike. And thinking I just didn't O, we BD'ed 4 days before that so there's quite a longshot that we made it happen this month. But I guess I can chalk it up to learning that I O later than I thought and that's a really good reason we haven't been successful yet!
