Because of my age and the early arrival of high BP and diabetes my OB informed me yesterday not to expect to go to full term. She explained that as time passes high BP and diabetes age the placenta and can restrict blood flow. Although she told me not to worry it kinda made me panic a little. She told me that if things go well to expect to deliver between 37-38 weeks.

Slightly nervous though that things may arise in the future and will have to deliver before 36 weeks...

Hi surprisepg. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Trust yourself, trust your doctors. If you feel as though they're not making the right decisions about your care then get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion. Scheduled delivering at 36wks is not as risky as an earlier unplanned delivery since doctors can give you steroid shots to develop baby's lungs and do amniocentesis to check lung maturity. I think the best advice I can give is to be very aware of how you're feeling and never hesitate to call your doctor/midwife or just show up at your hospital's emergency room. I hope everything goes well and your baby arrives safely :)

Thank you! I'm very happy with my OB I felt that instant bond and trust with her. She made a point of not worrying and I trust her I just think that because the FOB isnt in the picture I'm feeling slightly more vulnerable.

I will definitely go to the ER if I'm not feeling myself.

I understand completely. Lack of support from a partner isn't the ideal situation but as women I believe we can and do accomplish great feats. Best of luck to ya :hugs:

In the uk 38 weeks is the latest an if you haven't had your baby you will be induced. I am diabetic also an my last baby was delivered at 36 weeks. Don't be worried if they plan on bringing the baby earlier they will give you steroids to develop the lungs. X

Thank you pinkbump... my twins were delivered at 37 weeks which is considered full term but I know what to expect at that gestation I just heard 36 and freaked a little. But you've eased my mind thanks!

My daughter was born at 36+1 due to high BP. She's sitting here next to me now admittedly with a cold but otherwise growing and thriving well! As long as you are well monitored and the conditions able to be kept under control all will be well! Xx

My mom had diabetes and I was born a month early. TOday, I am super healthy I don't even get colds much.

THings will be fine. Congrats on baby!

Thanks ladies feeling much better about this now. I guess I get to see my little angel earlier thats not so bad lol

I am also high risk (medical factors) and have 2 kiddos who were late preterm. My son was born at 35+6 and my daughter ALMOST made it at 36+5. I had PPROM with my first but my second was a natural labour. Both kiddos are healthy and doing well and had a good birth weight. Hugs! xo

I ended up having my baby at a34 weeks 6 days as he decided to come early for no reason and now a healthy 15 week old
