Hey ladies i saw th fetal specialist today and theyr talking about induction at 36 weeks because shes measuring small i will include a pic later of my grow chart. Im happy to go with the drs opinion on this because i have numerous other problems with th pregnancy. Has anyone else delivered at 36 weeks and able to keep baby with you or have they had to go to nicu? Did u manage to get induced or did u end up with a section X

It can be very hit and miss. I have known babies be born at 36 weeks go home right away, others remain with mum in for a couple days just in a normal cot for monitoring and others need 4-6 days in SCBU. If baby is quite small she may need help regulating body temp even if she is doing well in every other respect. Possibly some level of help with feeding purely to give her more rest which helps to gain weight faster as feeding takes a lot of energy. They may just let her feed normally thou I don't know.

A lady I know was just induced at 37 weeks yesterday as her baby was measuring small. I do not know all the ins and outs, only that baby estimated to be 3lb at 35 weeks and they did genetic testing at 28 weeks to try and discover why baby was so small. I have not seen her today (still in hospital) but I am assuming he is in SCBU at least because of the size even if everything else is OK, he will struggle to hold body temp.

My dd was born at 36+ 3 naturally, she weighed 7,15oz and stayed with me.

I was induced at 36+4 because of baby being small.
my induction ended up in a section after 14 hours though due to contractions being every 28 seconds and baby was distressed.
My baby got to stay with me and even though he was only 4lbs 6oz at birth he came home with me 2 days later.

Thanks everyone im looking for all different stories so this is the best place. What makes them induce at 36 wewks? X

I was induced when baby was just 36 weeks as water had broken 48hs before. He weighed 2.8kg, so not too light, but he had issues getting going. There was no sucking reflex and he had to go to NICU fr two days to help feed. Low glucose levels. He was very weakened. He came through and after a two weeks he finally gained weight. He's now three and still of the chart weight wise. Has never cried for food and as a healthy active toddler now, he still is not interested in food in the slightest. Good luck with yours! Most babies pull through fine at 36 weeks.

Wow that must have been incredibly hard!! Thank you for that x

My 1st was born at 36 weeks but he was 6 lbs 11ozs. If she is measuring small it might be very different.

My first baby, I was induced at 36 weeks exactly due to my own health issues. From the first gel pessary to giving birth it took 27 hours - be prepared for longer as I was told to expect 3-4 days at a 36 week induction. I needed forceps so baby had a low apgar score initially. She weighed 6lb 4oz. She got an infection around her cord so needed IV antibiotics and she had severe jaundice which required the lights in her cot for 8 days which was hard as we couldn't hold her unless she needed feeding or changing. We went home on day 9.

Baby #2 was delivered via emergency section at 36+4 as I went into labour and she was breech. She weighed 5lb 8oz, initially had low blood sugars and a feeding tube but we went home on day 3.

Both babies were cared for by myself, in transitional care (a ward specifically for 36-37 weekers, not many hospitals have them)

In a few days our third baby will be born via c-section at 35+3, so I'm expecting it not to be as easy going. Shes measuring 39-40 weeks, so hopefully the extra weight will help her

x

My sil had her baby taken out at 36 weeks by cesarean because she (sil not baby) was going to possibly die, my niece had to be in nicu for atleast a week, maybe two, it's been a while but she's totally fine now. I had my second baby naturally at 36 weeks and she was totally fine, didn't have to go to nicu and I got to go home after 36 hours, she was 6lbs 5 oz

mine was because they think he stopped growing, when they did the scan at 35 weeks he was measuring 32 weeks, my placenta and cord had also started to fail. At the moment they think this one might end up going the same way because of my cord, but they are keeping an eye on that.
