Hmm, is the doctor fobbing me off?

Can I have your opinion? I am 39 and want to start trying for no. 2. When I was trying to conceive my son I used the CBFM and I started to track my cycle with it again in June. However, between June and Sept I only had 1 month where it showed a peak. I used the CB digital sticks last month and again, I never had a smiley face. My mum started menopause at 36 so I am worried I have started too so I went to the doctor and she told me to have a FSH blood test 7 days before my period was due. My cycle length is a bit hit and miss too so I had to guess when this was and I ended up having the blood test a couple of days early. When I went back to the doctor (a different doctor to who I saw originally) she said I had definately ov'd and pointed to the results on her screen which said 6.5 or 65 (I have bad eye sight!) but I don't know what the figures refered to. She said predictor kits are not 100% but I am confused as I have used 2 different kits (not at the same time); could they both be wrong? She did say I might be per-menopasual and to get cracking asap . This month I have had some EWCM but again no smiley face. What do you think? I felt that the doctor was very dismissive of me and my concerns. Oh, I was on anti-depressants for 6 months earlier this year and I read online that these can upset your cycle but again the doctor just brushed this aside. Could that be the issue? Sorry, for this rambling post, I'm just a bit confused. I was expecting to see the doctor and for her to say that I was going through the menopause so when she said I had ovulated I was a bit shocked. Thanks.

Hi, Do you chart? Maybe worth temping for a cycle to have a clearer idea of if you oV or not. I had negative OPKs for a while and panicked, but turned out I was fine just not catching the good moment, or maybe drinking too much, I don´t know.
I would ask to be refered to a specialist if you DR doesn´t take it seriously, do a FSH on day 3 or AF to see what egg reserve are like and then you will have more info and know exactly where you are at.
Good luck!

I would definitely start charting -- we did and discovered that I probably ovulate at various times, e.g. my cycles ranged from 21 to 44 days (altho, GP thinks 44 day was a chemical), I conceived first pregnancy (mc) around day 20, and with this sticky bean (so far, so good!), ob/gyn thinks we conceived around day 10 of my cycle and I had had a perfect 28 day cycle the month before (so normally would assume ovulation at day 14, based on 'typical' 28 day cycle....). In fact, due to my erratic cycles, most 'normal' tests are 'off' unless done on the 'right' day -- perhaps if you start charting, you will have some good information for your doctor (say, over a 6 month period) and then, you will get some direction!

best wishes

ps. oh, what I mean by charting is quite 'low-tech', e.g. I had an index card where I noted first day of cycle each month with notation of how long it lasted (and little symbols for type of bleed, e.g. brown to start, red, etc....)-- we were told by my GP not to waste money on ovulation kits (but understand that some are quite good), incidentially, was 43 when conceived/am 44 now -- so you are a young 'un compared to me....
