Holiday sleeping arrangements?

We are going on a villa holiday in July when DD will be nearly 24 months old and will be in the same bedroom as us. I have to decide whether to get her a travel cot arranged or an extra single bed in the room... She slept in a travel cot at xmas pretty well, but I'm worried by that age she'll be too big for one. she's a big girl anyway at 95th percentile for height. the thing is I dont know whether she'll be in a single bed by then and if not I wonder how well she'll sleep? I'm worried she'll fall out or get out and go wandering about a villa which isnt baby proofed like home. we'll have a monitor obviously and I'm considering taking a baby gate for the bedroom, but just wondered what you ladies would recommend/suggest?

Both my girls were in a bed at 2.. I'd say bed with a guard and a gate on the room x

My LO is already out of a cot so at Christmas we put him on a single bed mattress on the floor because my MIL's single bed is high off the ground. That worked really well but we had to go buy a stair gate super quick because my LO sunk out the room he was in and slipped down the stairs (he was fine but I very upset). So if you don't use a travel cot then I would recommend getting a travel stair gate.

LO is 2 and 4 months, 91st centile for height. She still has a travel cot (with lots of space) at my Mums so size wise she will be fine.

I've just bought Ashley a junior ready bed for when we go to my mums, would something like that work for you?

Bed. You can always put the mattress on the floor.

We have ready beds for both the kids for any holidays or sleepovers they need it for.its a blow up bed that comes with its own pump and has a sleeping bag attached to it.perfect especially for kids who may fall out of a bed

My sons always been above the 91st and he slept in a travel cot until he was about 4!
He was in a proper bed at 13 months but i still put him in a travel cot when we went away.
Esther also tends to go in a travel cot when we go away-we're going away in junky when she'll be nearly 5 and I'm considering requesting one just in case.

I would request both as if you don't need the cot it's fairly small to store somewhere

Maybe but it's £30 for the cot and £50 for the bed sl I dont knownif they'd make me pay for both!

I'd say single bed over cot, my LO is too big for a travel cot now and has been in a single bed with no problems for 3 months now.
If LO is unsettled you always have the option of taking LO in the bed with you and putting OH in the single - he definitely won't fit in a travel cot!

We're going to Florida as a family this year, we've booked two five star villas between us.

My dad, older sister, mum and five year old sister will share one villa so that the five year old will have a single, me my other half and son will share the other.

In our villa they've provided a travel cot, but Riley won't sleep in one. Me and the other half have a super king size bed, which Riley can sleep in if he won't rest, but there's also a single which I think he'll prefer. I am worried about the single being too high, but there's a double pull out sofa in the lounge/kitchen area of the villa he can sleep on if necessary, as it's lower down. X

Tom was too big for his travel cot by 2 - other people must have much longer travel cots than we had!

He was used to sleeping in a bed with no guard rail though so has been fine in a single bed at hotels etc since 2ish. Alternately he comes in the big bed with me and DH goes in the single. No ideal but means we all get some sleep.

ETA he did have a ready bed for a few months but it was really noisy when he moved around which kept us awake if he was in our room and he never slept well on it anyway so I got rid of it.

I have no experience, but a bed with a baby gate sounds like a good choice.

For our recent holiday we took a ready bed - small neigh to fit on the suitcase but blows up easily. We had a gruffalo one and he loved it - good compromise x

I'd definitely go with the bed. You could get a flexi guard to go on the side in case of rolling out. I'd take the stair gate for the doorway too.

I second the junior ready bed. It's like an air bed and low to the ground so they won't fall far. I got a peppa pig one from amazon. If not, I would go with the single bed and get a side guard. Or even just get the single mattress and have it on the floor. Won't fall far then x
