Hello :)

I was just wondering if any of you do/ have taken a holiday in Ireland and if so what's the best way you found of doing it?! Hotles or holiday cottage? Flying or ferrying?

We're hoping to go next year and it's a mine fieldif decisions, all of which seem hugely expensive! Fancy going to yh west coast, Clare, Galway direction! I really really want to see the cliffs of moher!

I've looked at cottages ( not mnay as can't find decent sites) flights, car hire(with 2 kiddies seats) or flying and driving! Either way it's coming out about £1000 fot a week, that's with out any food or activities! Just seems a huuuge amount of money we when can get an all inclusive somewhere sunny for same money!

Thought flying to Ireland is about as far as we can manage with 2 kids under 2 lol!

So yeah any tips or recommendation would be moat greatdully recieved!

Cheers

Lu xxxx

Did you have a look at the discover ireland website?

Ireland is incredibly expensive.

Probably the best way to go is renting a cottage/house for the week so you can do a weeks worth of shopping and be able to eat at the house or bring packed lunches.

Mid June through to End of August tends to be really really expensive. Early september could be a good time. All the children are back in school so places don't tend to be booked out which means places are cheaper and the weather is usually ok around then aswell.

can more of the family come too to make it worthwhile? i found a house in Clare that sleeps 12 and its 500 for a week :)

Wow that's good, we're thinking may June time! Gonna ask my parents if they want to come, cos would lower price a bit! Not sure I could put up with many more of the family! Lol and we could proba just get a 7 seater car!

Gonna have a look at that link u sent missy when I'm on laptop later!

Really would love to go, hence looking now in an attempt to save up. Lol

To the South or West of Ireland does have some gorgeous scenery. Though as I'm sure you'll be aware our weather can be fairly unpredictable even in the summer. x

Oh just thought have you looked at renting a static caravan instead of a house? :flower:

Oh wow that looks gorge, Ireland really is sooo pretty! Am sure I can persuade my parents to join us, my dads a good one to have around to being Irish :) on hand babysitter to! Will have a gander at that site later :)

I'm so excited and nothing is even set in stone yet! Love Ireland but never been west coast!

Only as unpredictable as out weather, and it's a choice between stayinnin england and going to Ireland! I'll risk the dodgy weather

oh a static caravan never even entered my mind, thanks! Will look into them to :) not stayed in one of them since I was a kid myself

Ireland is fascinating country to visit and to take holidays. I went last year with my family to enjoy summer vacations. We had booked two rooms in a hotel. We were amazed seeing the wonderful catering and facilities of there. We all were so happy. The most interesting that they also provide events rooms or others to conduct a meeting related to business for sale in Ireland or others. Really it was a great experience for us.

I would suggest a mobile home instead of a caravan, we go to a caravan in the west every summer but with young kids its really a big faff being in a caravan if its raining whereas at least in a mobile home you have the bathroom and a tv and a proper kitchen! Also if theres a lot of you and ye are driving then i'd say look at getting the ferry, it would work out way cheaper! But yes ireland is a total rip off!! I say that as someone who moved here from london :haha:

La hinch is beautiful! We stayed at a friends cottage there, the surf is really popular and sat on th terrace of a fab bar overlooking the sea watching them catch waves is amazing!!

Yes it is very expensive, we find it easier by ferry (we go the opposite way!) cause you will definitely need a car over here and with the ferry you can at least bring everything you want ad it breaks up the journey xx

This thread is from 2010 :dohh: Im sure shes had her holiday by now :haha:
