I was past my due date of 8/9/11. I had a membrane sweep done on the 13/9/11 ( 5 days overdue ) and found out i was about 2/3cm dilated. But was book in for induction of labour on the 16/9/11.
So Friday 16th September arrived and at 2pm i was booked in. I was getting soooo nervous lol. I got took to the inpatient ward and got hooked upto the heartbeat/contractoion monitor for an hour. At 3:00pm the midwife came in and told me about what will be happening (She said i will be given a prostane pessary just now and just to wait till 9:00am the next day then they will break my waters and put me on a drip.)
So at 4:30pm i was given my prostane pessary and got told to stay in bed for half an hour. Anyway at 8:00pm i started gettin pains like strong period cramps and that kept going on and off till about 1:00am. At 1:30am i felt like i needed to get up so went a walk to the toilet and when i got there my waters broke!! I pressed the buzzer and midwife came in and helped me back to my bed so she could check me over my waters still kept coming, didnnt think it was going to stop lol. Midwife checked and i was still just 2/3cm so i got hooked up on monitor again and i was having contraction but they were every 30 mins so i was just given paracetamol and told it was too early yo go to labour ward.
So eventually by 7:00am the midwife came back in and checked me and i was 6cm so time to get to labour ward. I got to labour ward and went on gas and air my contractions were every 10 mins. I wanted an epidural so they put the thing in my hand but by the time a doctor got there at 9:00am i was fully dilated. I was pushing for 2 hours and nothing was happening so the midwife got the doctor in and she tried forceps but still nothing so another doctor came in and he tried but still nothing so he gave me an ultrasound and the baby was in cephalic occipito-posterior position so it was goin to be hard to deliver. So doctor decided on an emergency c-section.
At 12:15pm i was being prepared for my section and got my spinal anethestic in, was sooooo good no contraction pains lol.
At 1:03pm my baby girl was born weighing 6lb 6oz.
