So this year we are buying adults a little gift and focusing more on the kids, but I am doing a hamper for OH's sister and Mother.
Then some smaller hampers for some friends and family.

I have decided to make some All Butter Shortbread, Scottish Tablet and Millionaires Shortbread.
I am going to put them into little Cello bags and wrap some Chritsmas Tartan ribbon round them and a little homemade tag to say what they are.

:D

Is anyone else doing something like this? Do you have any fab recipes or ideas you dont mind sharing?!

I'm thinking of making Xmas Tree cookies and gingerbread men for some gifts. No idea how I'm going to go about it though!!

Your ideas are lovely x

you can make reindeer gingerbread - very easy to do. make gingerbread as per recipe. use normal "man shape" cutter. instead of his feet down put them upwards, they make reindeer antlers and the arms make the ears, you then decorate the head with raisins and a red sweet for nose.

Last year I made goodies for my side of the family. I made fudge, nuts and bolts, and jam. Also I made homemade wreaths and fleece throws. With the wreaths I bought plain green ones from walmart and tree decorations from the dollar store; got out my trusty hot glue gun and whipped them up in no time. The blankets took a little more time though............

I saw on a different website snowman soup and wondered what it was so i googled it and decided we would buy the adults in our family a small gift probably from boots 3 for 2 and the kids would make everyone snowman soup for the personal touch.
For those that had like me never heard of this: in a cello bag/cone put a serving of hot choc powder or buy one of those single serving packets, some mini marshmellows and the american version some hersey's kisses i think but we don't have those in England, so i'm using chocolate sprinkles. Anyway tie the bag with a pretty bow and attach a xmas cane (one of those sweetie cane's you can buy to decorate your tree). Then there is a message to add i had to google this, its really sweet something about when its cold outside add all the ingrediants together and stir with cane.
Kids are also doing these for their teachers. For their grandad's and uncle there's snowman poop (again google this for poem) this is mini white marshmellows or mint imperials in a cello bag with cute poem attached.

By the way the gingerbread reindeer are fab i might have a go at them x

aawww thats a gorgeous idea! Definitely doing that one!

I made some truffles last year which went down well and some buttery fudge.. My special recipe book is at home in the UK, so I can't pass on the recipes...sorry, but they looked fab in a little plastic box I got from the £ shop and dressed up with tissue paper and ribbons! :)

Making some rose creams for my mum for her birthday again - it's just icing sugar with a few drops of rose water so it goes into like a dough so you can mould it in your fingers, then you roll them into little balls and coat them in chocolate. I made some little pink 'petals' out of the icing sugar that was left over with a tiny bit of red food colouring in and stuck them on top! :) Very yummy! You can get bottles of rose water from places like Sainsburys in the baking aisle.

Non-baking stuff I'm making includes - a necklace for my mum's birthday - garnet chips in a little glass bottle....A sock monkey for my cousin....a butterfly mobile type decoration, with little butterflies cut out of pretty paper....scarves and might be making some little hampers with face masks, chocolate, nail polish and handmade scented pillows.

I usually do some chocolate covered oreos drizzled with white chocolate, a few types of bark, different "balls" (rum balls, peanut butter balls, oreo balls) and put them in cello bags tied with ribbon.

I worked in a chocolate shop for years so I have tons of things I can copy

last year we made fudge, canies, rice krispi treats, chocolate covered pretzels and sugar cookies for Stan's family. Was a lot of work but I think they enjoyed it.

hmm those chocolate covered oreos sound amazing. :flower:

Oh yeah you can buy those premade rice krispy squares, shove a stick in it (from michaels or wherever, those white lollipop ones) and dip it in chocolate and drizzle white chocolate over it! SO good!! I forgot about those  Thanks for reminding me V!

I do something similar except I add a few chcolate raisins in a cello bag with a ribbon and call them reindeer with reindeer poo, honestly the kids love it!!
I do food hampers and also smellies hampers (I buy the smellies though), fruit baskets are easy too.
