today i had my first appointment since our ectopic a few months ago, this was after 6rounds of clomid, anyways the gyno clinic which ended my ectopic pregnancy said i would need a HSG so was prepared for that but our RE today have put us on the waiting list for a laprascopy, i am now really scared because she said its extremly risky and there might not even be anything there anyways????? i asked about HSG but she said no the laprascopy was the best to do now.... anyways so after what she told us i felt feeling more worried and almost in tears as she didn't talk about anything and just gave me a leaflet.... i am going to think about it and consider it really, she said after it was done she would talk about our next step and that might be clomid again which i am not willing to try, my MIL says i can demand a HSG instead.... i dunno what to do or what to think....

anyone had a Laprascopy? anyone had both HSG and Laprascopy????

what would you suggest/advice????

i had a lap done home the same day they just look to see if anythink is in there hun and to see everthink is ok they check on your tubes ect i would if i was you because theres nothing to worry about xx xx

If you had an ectopic pregnancy then they might be wanting to do the lap to check there is nothing inside that caused that. A HSG cannot do that. All it can do is check to see if the tubes are clear by passing dye/liquid through them. I'm not sure why she said it was 'extremely risky'. It's not at all. I think probably at least half of the people on this board have had one. There are risks with ALL minor surgeries, even HSG. The laparoscopy is a simple procedure and is more thorough than the HSG.

Laparoscopy is a lot more valuable in terms of diagnostics than HSG which can only diagnose blocked tubes and nothing more.

Hi hun
I had an ectopic that ruptured at 11 weeks, massive internal bleeding, lost my right tube and part of my ovary. They put me on clomid as well but it never worked it wasn't until my lap that i found out why. Because of the bleeding and my body trying to heal i have extensive scars , adheshions that mean even though my tube was clear, the ovaries are stuck down do the egg can't reach my tube. I don't want to scare you as fingers crossed you will be fine. The only risk is if they nick the bowel and have to open you up for bowel surgery which is a very small tisk imoa. Personally i think you are better off knowing than facing failure every month like i did. As you can see 2.5 years on i am pregnant through my first ivf attempt. Hope it all works out for you x

ye your right there hun x i had one and they said my tube was bloked so i had a lap and it wasnt so he didnt do the full procedure he wanted to do xx xx

i am just worried but they said this is a better option because means they can find out whats wrong and maybe even fix it there and then, can check the healthyness of my tubes and uterus etc... sad the op will hopefully only take about 15mins, i just hope there are no complications
