I'm curious as my 2nd C/S comes up (March 14th ahhh 17 days!)... Anyways I've always been curious, if you had a emergency or planned csection please state, how long did you have to stay afterwards?

If you had both was their a difference in the time that you stayed at the hospital?

I realize this will be different per country, just curious :)

I'm in UK and stayed in 3 nights after my emergency section but had a few complications and blood transfusions.I'm not sure I felt ready to go home and felt terrible for days. I've just had a planned section and was in 2 nights but felt a million times better this time. Good luck hope all goes well.

With my ds1 I was in for a total of 5 nights. 2 before birth due to induction and 3 nights post section. Lo had pretty bad jaundice so they weren't quick to get us discharged after 2 nights.

Ds2 was planned, and I was out in 2 nights. Spent 48 hours total and I felt so much better compared to the first time around!

Good luck!!

I'm in Canada, had my csection (unplanned) on a Friday night at 6:30, and was released from the hospital on the Monday morning at 10am

The first was 2 nights, I had been in the hospital already for over a week due to pre-e so I was itching to get out of there. The others I stayed 3 nights, because the dr recommended it.

I was technically both lol i was a planned section but went into labour myself so its technically and emergency section! Had a lovely experience, had my section Sunday midday and was out the Tuesday midday. Im in the UK xxx

1st was EMCS and I had her 10:19 p.m. on a Tuesday and didn't leave until Friday afternoon.

2nd was ELCS and I had her 1:05 p.m. on a Thursday and went home Saturday around 3:00 p.m.

I'm in the UK. My first was an emergency, I was in for a week but that was because I was ill (I had HELLP Syndrome and pre-eclampsia) and had a stay in intensive care. I had antenatal friends who had emergency sections due to failed inductions who stayed 2 or 3 nights.

My second was a planned section. I stayed 3 nights by choice, I could've been discharged after 2 nights but was struggling with pain and movement. The midwives gave me the option and I chose to stay a 3rd night which did help a lot.

I was in the hospital with preeclampsia so it was sort of a planned section. They scheduled it for Tuesday afternoon, but I was getting bad pretty fast so they bumped a couple surgeries and did it first thing in the morning. They would have let me go on Friday but since baby is in the nicu there they gave me the option to stay another night and I did. To be honest, I think I needed the extra night because getting out of bed every couple of hours to pee would have been impossible from my own bed at that point (my body held onto so much extra fluid from the pre e and magnesium sulfate I was on, so that won't be everyone's experience of course).

Mine was planned I went in on the Monday morning and left on the Thursday in the evening. I was told to stay until Friday but I discharged myself, there was no reason for me to stay. I struggled breastfeed and they more or less pressured me into staying one more night but I didn't. I had my family midwife come out to me when I was home to help mW with formula.

I was in hospital for a grand total of 5 and a half days.

Went in for induction on the Monday morning. Went into suspected natural labour Tuesday morning (induction got delayed until the early hours of that morning due to concerns). Had EMCS 2am on the Wednesday, on Friday we should have been discharged but instead we had another night as DS needed to be treated for jaundice. We finally got discharged Saturday afternoon after further delays for DS's results.

1st = 5 days, 4 nights (emergency due to going into labour before planned date)

2nd = 3 days, 2 nights (emergency due to going into labour before planned date)

3rd = 1 day, 1 night. Total of 25 hours. (elective)

Due to have my 4th in about 6 weeks time and I will be leaving the next day (providing everything goes to plan) so just another 1 night stay. And that's with me being nice! I would leave the same day if they would let me. I HATE being in hospital and spend the whole time not sleeping, not eating and crying to go home, so for me I am far better off in my own home.

Failed induction, went into hospital Friday...section Tuesday at 3.30 and I left at 3.30 Wednesday. 24 hours was the minimum I left asap.

My first was emergency due to pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes. Her sugar wouldn't regulate so they sent her off to a hospital with NICU. I had her at 8:00 pm on a Wednesday and we left the hosp. Friday morning to go be with her at NICU.
My 2nd was a planned C-section. I had her on Monday morning early at 8:07 am and we left the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. So just a little longer on the stay. Of course I loved that last night, the nurses took care of everything for me and stayed out of the room and I got my last full nights sleep for a while :) love my booger but she is not the good sleeper her older sister is at all.

My first was very much an emergency (Placental Abruption). I lost 800mls of blood. My hospital stay was five days.

My second was semi planned. I had an infection and I went into labour. Due to the infection I had to have a section, however I went into labour two weeks early. My my hospital stay was two and a half days.

I had an emcs Saturday 10pm and was out 6PM Monday. They probably would have kept me longer but I begged to leave and there was no medical reason to keep me. I was moving around fine and barely taking pain medication.

I had an emergency section on the Sunday afternoon and went home at lunchtime the next day. I felt fine luckily so I really pushed to go home as I hated not being in my own bed

I went in to hospital to be induced on Sunday at 3pm had an EMCS at 6.45pm on the Tuesday and discharged myself at 7ish on the Thursday evening. They wanted me to stay another night but I decided against it

I had an emergency csection with my DS and was in hospital for 5 days after his birth, from the Wednesday to the Sunday. 6 days in total due to induction. With my dd (elective) I was in for 2 days

I had an emergency c section at 390 weeks due to HELLP Syndrome and was in the hospital for a week because my blood pressure was too high. I had to take 10 pills a day just to keep my BP at a normal level when I was finally released
