hospital tour!

Signed hubby and I up for a hospital tour. Happening the evening of my birthday and at a hospital I have seen many friends give birth at and have been treated at myself for a variety of illnesses and injuries. They just finished renovating their entire maternity ward, so I'm really interested in seeing what's new. Will be nearly 16 weeks then.

Anyone else going on a tour yet?

I really want to go on a tour but don't think my hospital does them- they do a 'virtual tour' ...But it's all been renovated since they filmed it :dohh:

Love that you're so prepared! I went on the hospital tour when I was pregnant with my first at 39 weeks! :flower:

LillyFleur; you should call them and ask if they plan to release an updated virtual tour or if they offer live tours :) I know here in the states they schedule them all the time and they require a reservation to keep tour party numbers low for obvious reasons.

NennaKay: My hubby and I were ridiculous last time. I think we started at like 12 weeks and went to at least 6 different hospitals in the area because we'd just moved there and were unfamiliar. So glad that we did because if we'd settled on the nearest one, we'd have been miserable. I wound up having my Gallbladder removed there and it was a complete and total nightmare experience. Sometimes it's just better to be prepared. Wait until I start packing my bags at 22 weeks, LOL!

On Thursday my midwife will be giving us a tour of the birth center in my city that I'm hoping to use.

My husband signed us up for a tour when I was 14 weeks! Everyone else was super pregnant and the tour guide asked me "are you expecting?" Haha!!! It was a really cool experience though.. Glad we did it!

I will not be having a hospital tour. But that is mostly because, I can do a virtual one. but they just finished renovating the maternity ward just before my first was born (17months ago) and I will be going to the same hospital. That being said I am pretty already familiar with it all.

I have never been on a hospital tour before but it sounds like it would be really good though.

Yes, I did when I was only a few weeks and they needed blood. It was nice and I would recommend one specially since I like to know my surroundings and environment.

ME TOO!!! I felt super comfy knowing pretty much where things were. It was like there wasn't any guess work to be made, it was just like "Oh, ok, turn down this hall and we can find snacks! Score!" lol! They were really thorough with the tour and I really hope this hospital is also. We've moved back across the country and, like I said, friends and family have given birth at this place, but none since the renovation last summer/fall and so far we've heard tale from our OB that they're really made it a lot more comfy for spouses and partners staying over with mom.

Our hospital offers torus on Saturday and Sunday for women who are 34-36 weeks. They figure that you may have questions at that point that you wouldn't have had earlier, which is a valid point! At 20 weeks I would have been looking as someone who wanted midwife led water birth. Now at 29 weeks I've been diagnosed with both gestational diabetes and a blood clotting disorder so will be consultant led and possibly even csection! Can't wait to have a look around though! X
