I am in the middle of applying for the small amout of housing benefit that all the online calculators tell me we're entitled to.

What I'm wondering is do they just take your income and rent into consideration when deciding how much to give you?

My OH has a car that he bought before he met me that he pays monthly for and it just EATS every penny we have, we can't sell it until he's paid for it so it really does affect our finances. I think he pays the best part of £400 per month on it and considering he only earns around £800 per month you can see why it's causing us to be poor! Is there any way the council will consider this when I apply?

Thanks
xx

only income, rent and savings they dont care what personal bills you paying and how much debt you have they also not include utility bills.

your Oh can sell the car before its paid off and when is sold paid off outstanding amount.he need to talk to bank whom gave him finance or dealer he bought it from.

I thought that's what someone would say, that they don't take personal 'debt' into consideration.
Thanks for your reply xx

They don't take into account personal debt.
