as above really:flower:.

i know its impossible to budget untill we know for deffinate how much CTC and WTC we'll get but just trying to do a rough budget :flower:.

we live with my parents... so dont really know what to put for council tax as obviously my mum and dad pay that, the only tax we pay is out of our wages.... so shall i put for housing that we own our own as were not renting .

also ive put both april 2010- april 2011 annual wage in and next years aswell as next year our wage has gone right down due to me being on maternity allowance...which im told they dont count as an income ?

ok so on the entitled to website.....

april 10- april 11

me: £5195
OH: £8165

and then i added next years income as it is lower... we dont know the exact amount yet untill we get aprils P60's but i know its going to be lower...
because of MA and ive been signed off work since may and not recieving any esa or ssp....

so april 11- april 12

me: £1400 (maybe less)
OH: £11,000 (maybe a little more)

but over all still less than last year....

and the results it came back with were.....

initial award:
WTC: £34.52 per week
CTC: £59.36 per week

final award:
WTC: £42.29
CTC: £59.36

which one should i go by when trying to budget? or what figure would you use when trying to budget plan looking at those figures?

I would go for the lower figures as I found that although they work from the previous year they are really slow to pay you anything and the webpage does seem to give you best case scenarios. I found it was a lot less I was getting to what i had been predicted, thats why I was so glad I started my work from home job as extra income as relied on that hugely. Now Thats my source of income and anything from wtc and ctb are bonus' that go into my LO's account.

I would definately only allow for the lower figure, however I'm not sure if those figures would be affected because you are still living with parents? It might be worth checking that x

thankyou :flower:.

my LO is due november the 1st can i apply as soon as she is born or do i need to wait to get her registred first and have birth certificate?

also say if i registrered her about 1 week after shes born, saying she comes on due date (highly unlikely i know :haha:) how many weeks does it take to get tax credits and child benefit paid into bank accounts.... what are the chances of it being all done by xmas... as money will be especially tight around then ?

think its best if i went by the lower figures, so i budgeted using figures a little lower than the lowest they quoted me .

i phoned the tax credits line to ask this and they said it doesnt make any difference to the amount we'll get living with parents or no living with them, because they consider me, my OH and LO as a seperate family IYKWIM
i was wondering the same thing :flower:

also would we be entitled to the surestart grant after LO is born, as i dont think we would be now as not getting tax credits xx

If your LO not late then you may be lucky and be able to get all your tc etc before Christmas.

I'm hoping they won't let me go over as I have GD. So hopefully she won't be to late :)

Fingers crossed I get it by xmas, if not its gonna be a bit of a struggle :(

I claimed tax credits while living with parents and it makes no difference - only your and your partners income is taken into account. Outgoings (such as rent) aren't taken into account for tax credits so if you can pay less out by staying with parents then good for you!
You need to register the birth before claiming tax credits as they will check. Usually you send off your birth certificate with your child benefit form and claim tax credits about the same time - I don't think they will pay until child benefit is awarded.
They sorted our tax credits out in a matter of weeks but I suppose it's how long is a piece of string when it comes to how long they take with individuals!

you should get the money by christmas. I have found the website to be very accurate for me. however with budgeting i would go with the lower figure. then if you get the higher one you will have more to play with. When lo is born you need to get them registered 1st. then with the birth certificate you apply for child benefit (you get a form for this in your hospital bonty pack) then once you have heard back from them you apply for tax credits.

sorry to be picky but they disregard the first £100 of SMP or MA not all of it. So you would still have to count anything over that (£28-odd if you get the max) although hopefully that shouldn't make a huge difference to the annual income.

Thankyou I never knew that, shouldn't make a huge difference tbh though, as I was signed off work since may my income from my employer for the next tax year will only just about be 1500 :( and didn't receive any SSP (they refused to pay me it :() or ESA

I thought they didn't include it because MA wasn't a taxable income :/

I'll recalculate doing that :)
