I know guidelines say not too but if i make up two night feeds, rapid cool them and store them in our mini fridge upstairs and then heat them to use them as needed through the night is this okay? Basically everyone i know who has kids says thats what they done and it would make life ten times easier! But i am really a bit iffy about it as i know its a bit naughty! Any advice appreciated x

I do it, my LO sttn so I couldn't make a flask because it wouldn't be hot enough when he woke, and there's no way I could wait 30 minutes for the kettle to cool and leave him screaming! Was you given an NHS birth to 5 book, it says you can do it in there if necessary. It's obviously recommended to prepare a fresh feed if possible but it can sometimes be difficult like during the night as you say.

You do need to make sure the fridge temperature is below 5 degrees, and store at the back. Not sure how cold a mini fridge is?

You do what you feel comfortable with however x

I think it varies but here in the US, you can refrigerate formula up to 24 hours. I use to premake her bottles. :flower:

i ended up making 2 feeds at night so that i wouldn't make an error in counting out the scoops. i did wait till she was about 3 months to do it. Like anything the risk of anything to your LO is small but only you can figure out if you are happy to take the risk.

I've been preparing feeds in advance for about 4 months now and had no problems. I just make sure I rapid cool them before putting them in the fridge and store them at the back.

I do that for daytime bottles too, and I also did it with for daughter 2 years ago. No way could I manage to make up a fresh feed every time he needs it (every 2 hours) when I've a toddler running round my feet.

My health visitor came today and told me that its perfectly fine to pre make bottles and put in the fridge and store for up to 24 hours. The thing about bacteria is, if everything is sterilized, as long as the lid is not taken off, nothing can get into the bottle to make bacteria. Do whatever your happy with!

I make up fresh feeds by adding 1/2oz cooled boiled water to 2oz boiled water which makes 70degrees water then add in 5 scoops and top up with cooled boiled water from the fridge. I used to make bottles and store in the fridge but find this new method is actually quicker than warming up bottles in a bowl of hot water.

I do! I use colief so I have to make up the bottles in advance (at least 4 hours in advance for the stuff to work).

Never had problems. I discard after 12 hours.

Its fine. If you can't make them there and then its the next recommended thing to do x

I see no problem with that, I make them as I go, though! Just because that's what me and OH have always done haha.

He bought me a flask that keeps water hot for 16hrs so I basically boil the kettle, let it cool, pour in flask then that's a days worth, night time do the same so I have some at night :)

But my mum did that and most people I know do :)

Can't be that bad, I've done it since LO was born and it hasn't caused him to be ill yet!

If you use SMA, you can get the ready to use bottles, and then just screw on a sterilised teat. They are 71p in Wilkos, so if only using them for night feeds, wont break the bank.

I premade them for my DD1 and have been doing the same with DD1. The only difference is I only make up 3 at a time that way its a bit fresher. And I feel a bit better.

But yeah my daughter was fine. And as someone else mentioned, it would be ten times harder doing it with a toddler at your feet.

I've always pre-made her bottles, day and night, and she's been fine!
