How big/much mucus plug supposed to be?

So I have been experiencing lower back contractions/front for 3 days now usually at night time. For 5-8 hours every 5 min for 10-20 seconds. This morning the pain is gone once again went to the bathroom a a quarter siZe brown mucus thing came out. Was that the whole plug or some of it? Lol and will labor be soon or vary? I'm 38 weeks today

i had clump size of my palm even after that it was endless until she was born(about 7hr latsr) second baby

first baby i never lost my plug as such, i went hosp was 5cm then lost some but only tiny bits.

2 completely different for me.

With my son I started to get painful contractions the morning of his due date. They weren't regular but they were painful enough to get me to stop in my tracks and double over. I was at the grocery store and in the bathroom noticed a small clump of mucous tinged with pink and brown. It was only the size of two quarters. It's all of the plug I ever saw. My son was born 4 days later.

I'm sure it's different for everyone and each time. I've been losing small pieces of plug the past week or so but I"m not even term yet. I had a friend say she lost her plug and the baby was born over a week later. But the fact yours is tinged with blood is a good sign your little one is coming soon. A few days could make all the difference. Heck, so could a few hours.

I have been loosing big gross slimy bits of mine for a week now (last thursday was when i got my first big bit) It seems to be never ending!

With my daughter I was in labour for 3 days and only lost it on my second day.

With Fin I had a stretch and sweep, 48 hours later I wiped and got a biggish bit on the tissue. Then I got in the bath and it just kept coming! It was the most disgusting experience of my life

Extra thought: I was experiencing contractions at that point (5.30am) and they only got stronger. Gave birth 11.58pm that night

With my 1st bub it just kept coming out every time I wiped from when my labour started to when I had him. With my 2nd it came out in one big chunck just before I have birth it was roughly the size of a golf ball and went down my leg and onto the floor my midwife was excited to see it though lol!

Mine came out in three lumps... One of which covered my entire pantyliner. It was huge!
